Well, I decided it was finally time to post another comment on my blog. I read a couple of new blogs today which encouraged me to do some musings of my own. My family is almost finished with school. Our last day is officially Friday the 13th, but we'll actually be finished on the 12th most likely. Then, on Friday, we'll be going strawberry picking with some friends. Depending on the time, we may make some jam. I'm looking forward to having some time of my own. I have some projects that need to be completed. But, what I'm really looking forward to is reading some books I've had checked out and have had to renew a million times. Camp is coming up, also. This will be my first time in just over 20 years going to camp. I'm just a smidge nervous, but I'm more looking forward to it. Leaving the boys at home is a little bit of a burden.
Didi and I had a conversation today about how we should treat people. It came to me that we should leave anyone we come into contact with better than how we found them. Kind of like the rule we should follow when camping or using any space that isn't our own. That means the lady I snapped at at the store the other day didn't deserve my frustration - even though her customer service was woefully lacking.
Today we learned abuot John Quincy Adams. His beliefs and how he lived were inspiring. Even though his presidency wasn't his greatest accomplishment, he didn't allow it to define his life. He failed many times, but he stuck with it. I was amazed to learn that John Q. Adams mentored Abraham Lincoln. So, even though Mr. Adams may have failed when it came to slavery, his time with Lincoln changed this nation for the better. A new favorite quote of mine - "Duty is ours. Results are God's." | I've finally decided to write something on my blog. As my children keep telling me, I'm old. So, all of this blog stuff is new to me. So, I've procrastinated, but no longer. Anyway, a moment ago, I was enjoying some of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever tasted. My daughter, Maddie, has successfully accomplished making delicious, and relatively healthy, chocolate chip cookies. I'm considering marketing them for her so she can pay us back for all the chocolate chips we've purchased for this endeavor! The men of the house (there are 3) have joined 4 other men in playing Laser Web for a birthday present for one of my sons' friends. It's his 13th birthday. So, the girls are at home finishing some chores before we head off to the store and Starbucks. Well, I think this is a good first attempt at blogging. Maybe next time I'll have something worthwhile to say! |
