Sharity

These are the ramblings and scrap-blog of a happy homemaker and homeschool mama! I'm glad you've stopped by for a visit! My manly, man husband and I have been married for 10 years and have 2 all boy-boys - 9yo and 6yo. We have always homeschooled, focusing more on the HOME than school in these early years. We enjoy an eclectic mix of curriculums and resources - and of course learning from real life. Isaiah 54:13

Show&Tell

Posted on Aug. 17, 2007 in Show and Tell

Today's S&T is from a couple of weeks back (dh has the camera today hoping to get pics of 9yo riding a horse at the job, and to track progress on the house being built).

Dh brought in these supplies:

He told the boys they were going to build something and when they thought they knew they could guess.  He told them about pvc pipe and all the different fittings, couplings, etc.... and they started to piece the project together:

It finally took shape and the boys guessed a tent!  They set it up in the bedroom, where you can see there is barely room:

They covered it with sheets, loaded the inside down with "supplies" (toys) and spent the night in their tent.

Pvc pip is used for so many things, but your DH really did make some fun for your boys!!! A tent! It looked like a huge tinker toy until the sheet was put on top. Great together time for the guys!

This is such a great idea. I cannot imagine why we didn't think of this one when our boys were young. DH and boys made things with PVC piping (a hang glider they jumped off the picnic table with), but never thought of a tent frame! Kudos to your DH!

How long did it take them to guess what it was. Sometimes I think it is a waste of money to buy beds for kids. They would so much rather sleep on the floor!

Oh, you could so sell those on ebay as tent kits! I'd buy one! That is so neat! Did he make them himself? Or was it a kit. I am serious!

How neat to be a little boy in your house. That is so cool of your husband to do that. Education at its finest too - but don't tell the boys!

How cool! I loved making tents in our bedroom when I was little. I enjoyed it even more with my two when they were younger. Those times are gone. :( Now I have to deal with teenager things. It's all good though! ;o)

Lori

That is really neat, your husband did a wonderful job. I would have never thought to do something like this with our guy. We use the table or even the chairs for his tent's.

Great S&T,
Debbie
