The Fruits of our Labor!!!

This has been in process since 1995.  My mom passed away and left me some insurance money.  One of the things that we did with it was to have lumber cut from the trees that were down on the property.  It is coming in VERY handy now.  THANKS mom!  She is still taking care of me.

After much thought, deciding on this or that, changing our minds, deciding again, changing our minds again and you get the picture, we have decided to just build where we are and keep it debt free.  I am not a fancy girl.  I don't have to have everything perfect.  I can live in a garage and be perfectly happy.  So, that is what we are going to do.  We have had an appartment in the back for a while now.  It is a one room place with a closet and bathroom (no privacy).  It has worked for us but it is past time to have extra room.  We are so happy to be making this happen.  I will be sharing pics and updates on the blog.

No big news today

Myspace Comments

Just checking in today.  It is rainy here. We have no big plans for today other than school.  The boys are helping to stack some lumber first.  We will be going to church tonight.  We have church on Thurs. instead of Wed.  I also have a few phone calls to make.

There is always cleaning, so I won't bore you with those details.  LOL

I have a some friends that will be burying their father today.  He had cancer.  They are a close family and of course, they are very sad and hurt.  Any prayers would be good.

I guess Bob and I are going to check Matthew's math.  Have a blessed day!

All in a Day

Yesterday, Bob and I woke up and had a can crushing.  You can see that in the first couple of pictures.  We save all of our cans and take them off about once a year.  We give that money to the boys and they enjoy their little bonus.

The other pictures are of Paul cutting the 2 X 6's for our build.  We had rough cut lumber.  The guys have cleaned it up and now they are cutting it to size.  Our friend Bob had this awesome saw that he blessed us with.  Paul got all the wood cut in one day.  There are also a couple of pictures of Patrick.  The boys carried the wood and kept their dad going.  They also took care of the scraps by burning them.  I didn't get a picture of Matthew helping because I took a nap.  OOPS! bad mommy.  LOL

We are heading to the dentist again today.  I asked if he needed a new addition to his home.  He laughed.  We are going to be personal friends before this is all over.  I really like him and his staff.  It is a blessing to find a dentist that you like and feel good with.

Our Pastor's wife Crystal and 2 ladies, Margaret and Georgia, from church came and brought food yesterday.  We had potato soup, chicken strips and crescent rolls.  MMMMM  It was so good.  We have been blessed by other so much since we found out I was sick.  I will be writing a post on blessings soon.  It is amazing how people help when you need it.  We are doing so much better now.  I just can't say enough about our family and friends.  We are so blessed.

Have a great day.

Our week in review

We have had a busy week.  We have been to the dentist.  We took Paul for his first impressions for his new teeth.  That went great.  We are so excited about this.  He and I both have really bad teeth and this will be a relief.  The boys were next.  They both got cleanings and then we found out all the "stuff" on them.  We ended up getting appointments the next day for fillings.  That went well too.  They did great.

After each trip to the dentist, we did a Walmart trip.  The first day, we also went to the library.  That makes for a long day for me.  We went to town on Friday for a field trip, only to find the place we went to closed.  I also had to make a library stop this day.

OK, if all that weren't enough, we also did school and the boys are helping dad get the lumber ready for us to build.  It was rough lumber and they are cleaning it up.  There is a lot of lumber and it takes time.  Their doing a great job.  We figured while Paul is off work with me, they could start doing the lumber and framing for our build.  We should get a lot done.  They are right outside if I need them.  Things are going well for me so I am good in here alone.

My friend Sylvia took these pics.  They wanted me in on it too.  I am so proud of my guys.

Speaking of Sylvia.  She came over one evening and cooked supper.  We all love it when she comes over.  She is always fun and she made cookies too.  That is a bonus!!!  We love our Sivie!

We have had to vacuum a lot because of the sawdust on top of regular cleaning.  That is our week in review.  We have a lot to look forward to.  Paul goes Monday to the dentist for the 2nd impressions.  Matt and Pat go back on Wednesday.  That is in Columbia, KY.  I have to go to Glasgow, KY to the Radiation doc on Monday the 25th.  Patrick goes to the dentist in Louisville, KY on the 27th.  We are just run arounds.  It is a great feeling to be getting it all done.  So, if you try to catch us and can't, you know why now.

Have a blessed day!!!

A normal day in the life of...

Flowers and Roses Comments and Graphics for MySpace, Tagged, Facebook

Simple is so under rated now a days.  Sometimes at Walmart I pick up a bouquet of flowers that are 1/2 price and it makes such a difference in our home.  Simple things are good things.

We finished school in good time today.  I am so happy about that.  It is hard to get back into the swing after holidays and snow.  We did it though.  I need a better plan and I will try to get that going soon.

I am feeling pretty good.  I have been amazed at how good actually.  I am worn out today after school and lunch.  I think I will be taking a nap.  The boys are doing great.  They both just got something new and are trying it out as I type.  They are lost for a bit.  Paul is in the shop doing shop things.  LOL  I have no idea.  Bob is laying on my legs.  He just loves his mom.

I am excited about one thing this week.  Paul goes Wed. to the dentist to get impressions made.  He is going to get all his teeth pulled soon.  I wish it were me but in time that will come too.  Both of us have horrible teeth.  It will be a blessing to get this all done while he is out of work with me.  The boys will help with cooking and stuff.  Thank God for all blessings.

Have a blessed day!

Final Treatment

Myspace Comments

I took my final chemo treatment yesterday.  In 2 weeks, I go to see the radiologist.  Hopefully, I will start radiation and be closer to the end of this chapter in my life.  It hasn't been that horrible.  I don't want to do it again.  I have learned a lot.  I think my guys have learned a lot too.  We have to go back today for a shot.  I am so excited to not have any more chemo.  That stuff is tough.

We are looking for snow for the next 3 days here.  That is awesome.  I just hope that Paul can do his dentist appt. and get home before it gets bad tomorrow.  That is our big plans for the week.  We know that after my treatment, I get sick a few days later.  We don't really make any big plans.

We are about to start school again in a few days.  We will be going through the summer and making up what we missed.  It will be nice to have a normal again.  The boys will hate it at first but they will get over it.  They are such good guys.  I am so blessed to be their mom.

I want to brag on my hubby too.  He has been the most awesome man.  He has taken such good care of me.  I know it is hard to have a sick loved one.  He has been right here and held my hand, pushed me to do things, loved me, kept the house going, kept the boys going, done all the money stuff, made all the decisions, got all the groceries, cooked, washed, cleaned and whatever it took.  My honey is totally amazing.  I thank GOD for giving me the best man for me.

Don't forget that LIFE is a good thing.  Be thankful!

WOW! I love this blog post. From 2/9/09

OH NO!  Not a give your money away post.  NOPE!

This is an opportunity post and a blessing post.

Our story:  I went to church while growing up.  I always wanted to have something to put in the offering plate.  I never heard of tithing.  What???  Hubby and I started going to church in 1995.  We would give some, whatever we could.  We had no idea what God had called us to do.  We finally found in the Bible that we were to tithe.  Well, that wasn't as easy as just reading it and doing it.  We would do well for a few weeks.  Then, one of the kids would need new shoes or we would  want to go out and eat or something would come up.  You get the picture.  Walmart! Don't forget the lovely, come spend your money here, Walmart.  We could go there and drop $100 and not even really look much.  Not till recently, did I realize, that you CAN go to Walmart and spend a few dollars on what you need and not spend $100.  Do any of you understand this or am I the only one?  Hello!!!  I need an AMEN corner.  Well, I'm sure that you are all getting the picture here.  We got on the teeter totter and would tithe one week and not the next.  It was crazy.  THEN, one day, the light bulb came on  .  We, being the smart folk we are, decided to start tithing every week.  OH MY GOODNESS.  It was so hard at first, especially for me.  Paul would deposit his check, keeping the tithe out, so I didn't have to be tempted by it.  I really had money issues to say the least.  (still do but getting better)  We started seeing many things at this point.  First, ALL of the money we were dealing with was God's anyway.  He just let us use it.  2nd-We are blessed for obedience, 3rd-Blessings come in many ways.  I know there are many more to list, I am going to stop with those 3.  We started seeing that we could go all week and still have money to buy a gallon of milk at the end of the week.  Of course, that would bring the account down to a dollar and change however, we were able to manage and start staying away from the dreaded CREDIT CARDS (will be referred to as CC from now on).  That was one of the first things.  Now, I have to say that I still just really didn't feel happy about giving yet.  Time goes on.  We got hooked up with auctions and started buying and reselling.  By this time, I was happy to be able to write the check.  YES!!!  I could now have the money put in the account and be happy to write a check.  Can you say BLESSING.  Back to the auctions and selling.  We worked HARD!  It was a time of no sleep, sweat, a few tears and just generally, being tired all the time.  We were either selling or working on something to sell.  It was great to see what was happening with the bills.  They were going down.  We were tithing and things were happening.  We ended up being completely out of CC debt!!!  Only, to do the same silly stuff.  We got in debt again.  I will have to say that during this time, we got to experience life that was amazing.  Hubby was home for 7 months with us and we got to go places and do things.  It was after all this and before hubby found a job that we ended up in debt again.  This has been an amazing journey.  There have been many lessons learned.  God has shown  us that by our obedience, we are able to be blessed.  Even, when we weren't on track or doing everything right. These last few years have been amazing to say the least.  I could write even more than this.  I think I have given you an idea.  This brings us up to now.  I have skipped a lot.

I wrote this post months ago.  I feel it is still important to keep it and post it for me if nothing else.  Thanks for letting me share.

Good Morning

Myspace Comments

I just love snowmen.

I am having a good morning.  Today is my last day of freedom for a few days.  Tomorrow, I have to go and get bloodwork done.  The day after, I go to get my 3rd and hopefully last chemo treatment.  The following day, I go to get a shot.  The last treatment made me sick for a few days.  So, I may not be on here as much.  I am just so excited that this may be the end of chemo.  I will get to go see the radiation doctor and hopefully have radiation.  I did get a little concerned.  I ended up getting a terrible sore throat and a swollen lymph node in my neck.  The doctor called in antibiotics and I am on that now.  I was in tears yesterday a couple of times with the sore throat.  It wasn't very pleasant.  I hope I am on the mend now.  I didn't want to mess up the last treatment.

We woke up to a temperature of 10*.  It is cold outside!  Poor Bob about froze.  He ran back in and jumped under the cover with me on the couch.  BRRRRRRR!!!!!!  I have heard from friends up north about sub zero temps this morning.  The sun is so pretty that it really fakes you out.  It doesn't look like it could be that cold with the beautiful sun shining like it is.  But, it really is that cold.

We will be having a laid back day again today.  I think we are going to go thru the closet and try to manage it.  It is a mess.  We need to put up some summer stuff and get out some winter stuff.  I am going to put my grandmas dresses that I will make a quilt out of someday too.  It is amazing how much stuff we end up with.  I can't wait to see the yard sale or give away pile.  I know I can't wear any of my pants.  It will be an interesting day doing all the closet.

Have a blessed day!!

An End to the Year Post

I have been so sorry about blogging.  I started feeling icky and rather than complaining or whining, I just quit.  I do want to put an end to this year though.  I decided to come in and do a final post for the year to catch things up and move forward.

This has been an eventful year.  The GREATEST part - God has been here, right beside us, the entire time.

The first third of the year found us working hard on yard saling and managing money.  We ended up paying the bulk of our debt off by March.  That does not include the mortgage payment.  It is however way down and I see it going away too.  This was a huge blessing.  I am sitting here teary eyed just thinking about it.  We worked really hard.  I feel so blessed that God showed us many things in this journey.  We have learned money lessons (the hard way).  It feels really good to come out from under the bondage of debt.

The second third of the year found us working on the small amount of debt (mostly medical) that we had left.  We were also still doing school, which went well.  We have the greatest kids.  Matthew and Patrick are the best.  They are learning so much and amaze us everyday.  They are going to be awesome men, great husbands and terrific dads one day.  We missed daddy a lot while he was in the truck and on the road.  Paul is the best hubby.  We have learned so much about communicating.  We can talk about anything now.  It is really neat to have a best friend.

OK, Now for the last half of the year and what a half it has been.  In August, I started feeling bad.  I went to see the doctor and found that I had a high H Pylori (sp) count.  We did the treatment for that.  This bacteria is known to cause ulcers.  I started feeling better for a few days.

We made it to take the boys to Beechbend in Bowling Green for their birthday.  That was an awesome trip.  We invited our family and some of our church family.  It was a great day.  It ended up being a little chilly and so we didn't get to enjoy the water park like the year before.  That didn't dampen anything.  We still had a great time.  We also made our trip to Jerry's afterward and enjoyed eating together and having fun there.  Our waitress was awesome.  We got to share with her.

After that, I started feeling bad again.  I was losing weight and I wasn't eating very well.  By the end of Sept., I was in the hospital in Burkesville.  We found some gall stones, poly-cystic kidneys and ovaries and they just tried to pick me up with fluids.  We made an appt with the surgeon for Oct. 29.  That was the first appt for us to get in.  I ended up calling them a lot and trying to get in earlier but there were no cancelations.  So, by the end of Oct. I was back in the hospital in Burkesville again.  They had to try to give me fluids again and pick me up.  By this time, I had lost @80 pounds.  I got out of the hospital the day before my appt. with the surgeon.  Paul's mom had called Paul by now and told him to come home.  He came in off the road to take care of me.  I could go from the car to the wheel chair and that was it.  We visited the surgeon and set up surgery for Nov. 3.  The day of the surgery came and we had company.  Our Pastor's wife, Chrystal and 2 friends, Jennifer and Diane came to be with us.  That was a blessing.  They ended up putting me at the end of the line for surgery that day so that they could build me up as much as possible before doing it.  They took my gall bladder out, put a portacath in my left upper chest area and did a scope to see if they could find any other problems.  I seemed to be healing well.  I still wasn't able to eat and was still losing weight.  I still can't believe that I couldn't eat.  I am a country girl and love to eat.  On the afternoon of Nov 17, Dr. Marion called.  I got Paul on the other phone and we listened as he told us the results of the scope.  He had found B cell Lymphoma (Non-Hodgkin's Disease) at the top of my stomach and bottom of my esophagus.  It wasn't as hard to hear this time around.  We stopped and thought for a few and then told the boys.  I don't think any of us really thought much about it.  We just decided to go forward, trust GOD and do what we needed to do to fight this.  By this time, I had lost almost 100 pounds.  We met with the Oncologist and things moved really fast.  We had a few tests and I did my first chemo treatment in the hospital in Glasgow, KY.  They sent me home and I was down.  I ended up going to the hospital in Burkesville on Saturday  Nov 28 with my hubby and sister in tow.  They were determined to leave me there till I could eat.  It had really gotten bad.  I couldn't walk or anything.  They couldn't stand seeing me like that anymore.  They were right.  The next morning my doctor came in and we had a great talk.  I have the best family doctor in the world.  He cares about the whole person.  He knows me and what was going on with my health.  He jumped in and found a way to start getting my nutrition started.  They worked so hard at the hospital to get me going.  I will be so greatful for our little hospital forever.  They really went over and above to get me going.  I stayed 12 days.  I ended up leaving there with 13 pounds of weight, being able to eat and I could even walk about a half a mile over the day.  It was an amazing turn around.  We were all blown away to see how God worked.  I have since taken another chemo treatment and have one more on Jan 5.  Things are still going well.  Hopefully, we can move on to radiation after the next treatment.  That is where we are right now.  I did forget to mention the hair thing.  I got tired of trying to eat breakfast with hair in it, so I went ahead and got my head shaved.  This time around, the hair thing didn't even bother me.  It was nice to get rid of it so it didn't get everywhere.

I guess there is just one more thing that I haven't mentioned.  That would be Bob (4 legged, youngest son).  He was devastated that mommy was gone so much.  He has been such a blessing for all of us.  He makes us laugh a lot and gives us much joy.  He is laying right beside me as I type.  He just fit in with our family so well.  Thank God for our animal babies.  All of God's creations are awesome.

This is a very long post.  I wanted to write it all down so I could remember it too.  If you read it all, thanks for letting me share.  I am just sitting here on New Year's Eve and thinking about how blessed I am.  Even thru the trials, we are blessed.  We learn and grow.  I am amazed at the life that I have.  God is so good and has been so good to me.  I can't imagine anything any better.

Long Lost and Hopefully Not Forgotten

I thought I would just check in this morning.  I haven't posted in a long time.  I haven't been feeling good lately but that wasn't an excuse for before.  I just really didn't feel like I had anything good to blog about.  Good things have happened, I just didn't feel like putting it all down.  I don't know how much I will be around but I would like to try to come in and do something.  I really spend a lot of time at Facebook now too.  It is just so easy.  Oh well, we will see what happens.

Is this not just so true of God's love in us?  I know that a lot of people will get all mushy on Valentines Day and use this another way but it sure does mean a lot when you think of it in God's light.

I just wanted to let you know that I am working on a big post.  It will hopefully be done this afternoon.  Just a warning....

Have a blessed day!  HUGS!

Fireproof

We just got to sit down together and watch this movie.  With Paul being a truck driver, it just didn't work out to go to the movies.  I had pre-ordered and paid for it around Christmas.  It was in stores on Jan. 27th.  We didn't get to go and pick it up till last Saturday.  By the time we went and got it and did everything else that goes with going somewhere, it was 11 o'clock when we got home and church was a must the next morning.  So, we didn't get to watch it.  Well, Paul got to come by the house tonight and he was early enough that I had dinner fixed and the movie was ready.  Our sons watched it with us too.  Oh my goodness, it was awesome.  I loved it.  I can so see this happening.  I know that my husband and I were at the breaking point like they were at one time.  Neither of us ever got the papers but we sure didn't like each other.  We did a thing called Marriage Encounter.  We also found a few other resources and MOST of all, we let God into the marriage.  Up until then, we had been doing it ourselves.  THANK GOD, He was still willing to come in.  I hope you have all watched this movie.  I will be passing it around starting Sunday.  I also just ordered the Love Dare from ebay.  We are more in love and like now than ever.  It just never hurts to do more to make it great.

There are a lot of marriages that are under attack right now.  Ones that we know about and some that are under hidden attack.  Please stop now and say a prayer for marriages.  It is a good thing to have a partner.  I just wish we could share the truth about how awesome it is and really get people to listen.  Oh wait, we can....we can have a Godly marriage and let people see it.  Wow, God thought of everything.

I just thought this was a neat graphic. I haven't been out much in a couple of days, so I didn't have any pictures to share.  We are supposed to be up toward 60* for the next few days.  I might be able to go out in that.  It says that the temp has risen to 21* as opposed to the 10* it was when I first turned on the computer.  I still feel like their is a chill in the air, even in the house.

We are doing school today and will probably have to go get milk at some point.  We will be out in a little while.  I am amazed at how pretty it is today.  Well, I better get moving.

Have a blessed day.  HUGS!
