Home schoolers must step outside the Christian bubble to closely examine exactly where the Presidential candidates stand on the important issues of today.
Just because Mike Huckabee used to be a Baptist Minister DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY mean that Christians should disregard other candidates. Evangelicals still need to examine other possible candidates who are also Christian......FRED THOMPSON, for example.
Our liberties as home schoolers are not best served by Mike Huckabee's history as Governer. We cannot trust him to protect our freedoms as President.

- I believe HSLDA’s endorsement of Huckabee is a curious one. In 1999, Huckabee signed into law a bill that HSLDA described in this way: “The enactment of House Bill 1724 on April 5, 1999, gives Arkansas the unique distinction of becoming the first state in the nation to add restrictions to its existing home school law . . . Arkansas is now one of only 12 states to impose a deadline for beginning home schooling or requiring parents to provide advance notice to public school officials of their decision to do so. Because of this restriction, parents who encounter intolerable conditions at the public school, such as imminent danger to the safety or welfare of their child, will have to wait at least 14 days before withdrawing the child to begin home schooling or else face truancy charges for unexcused absences during the 14-day waiting period. No such restriction exists for parents who decide to immediately remove their children to attend a private or parochial school in Arkansas. This raises serious issues regarding the right of parents to direct the education of their children and equal protection of the law as guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution."

Considering the NEA endorsement listed above, the HSLDA endorsement is a cause for puzzlement, especially when you take into account their 2007 - 2008 NEA Resolutions: "The National Education Association believes that home schooling programs based on parental choice cannot provide the student with a comprehensive education experience.
When home schooling occurs, students enrolled must meet all state curricular requirements, including the taking and passing of assessments to ensure adequate academic progress. Home schooling should be limited to the children of the immediate family, with all expenses being borne by the parents/guardians. Instruction should be by persons who are licensed by the appropriate state education licensure agency, and a curriculum approved by the state department of education should be used."

Body: I DONT BELIEVE ANY OF THAT CRAP BUT I DISLIKE THE GUY FOR HIS TACTICS....I AM REFERING TO HIS COMMENT AT THE YOU TUBE DEBATE...he wishes to abolish the IRS, totally impossible and completely unrealistic, yet stupid people will vote for him based on that statement, americans are very fortunate compared to canadians...we pay almost double for goods, triple in taxes oh yeah health care is free too my ass...I paid as follows last year FYI...count yourself lucky...we have so called free health care in canada.....well if you are stupid enough to believe that truth be told of the $57 000.00 in income tax i paid (yes all that amt payable in taxes0 last year $19 000.00 goes to health care plus a $1700.00 health surtax plus $336 a mth for dental and prescriptions, how do you feel about those numbers, america truly land of the oppotunity canada land of the truly ****ed taxpayer SO THAT SAID the guy is full of it and lying to people that is why fred is the man

AS LONG AS IT IS SOME FORM OF GOVERNMENT AGENCY collecting and policing and auditng cheaters and/or blackmarket it is a form of IRS so basically huckabee lied when he said no more IRS, audits it is proven fact in canada that flat tax/sales taxes ****ed the whole country and blew up in the government's face with rampant smuggling blackmarket goods and cross border shopping as well it gave the north american indians who have no borders a loophole who then became the richest entrepreneurs a problem our government has battled for 20yrs and has no idea how to fix it they have been trying to fix it for 15 yrs and you cant it is impossible because north american indians pay no taxes and have no borders so they fuel the black market also scaming retailers collect the tax from you yet the government never gets it because you if have no more irs to enforce it or police do you see the snowball effect
