"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7) That’s reassuring to me. I’m truly seeking some answers, so I know the Lord will answer me in his time. With high school starting next year for Rachel, I’m still unsure of where the Lord is leading me with regards to Hsing. In my feeble mind, I see the pros and the cons. Some days, I feel certain that the Lord is telling me to continue, yet other days, I feel just as certain that he is saying it’s okay to let someone else teach the academia. For now, I’m going to leave it in His hands, and keep seeking. I realize someone else’s “answer” may not by my “answer”. Each person has their own abilities, talents, and needs. I just want to be the best I can be – for God, for my family, and for His church. School has been good. Last week was distracted a little with stomach bugs and such. So, we had to play a little bit of catch up this weekend and the beginning of this week. This week is looking pretty full. I’m excited about where we’re going in Science. I love the study of the planets and the universe, but I’m so ready to move on to earth science. Bring on the experiments and activities!!! Perhaps it’s because we finished last year with the solar system, then started this year with more of it. It was neat though to be studying the planets at the time when Pluto was officially demoted to an asteroid. Hopefully, the girls will remember this time in history very clearly. Rachel is moving along well in math. After the frustration of percentages, we moved on and…lucky us…those were the last lessons on percentages anyway. Now, we just see them in review pages – and she seems to understand it better when I don’t spend so much time on it. She is moving through Zeta very well. The rest of the level is mainly pre-alg stuff and some basic geometry and stats. Rachel should be ready to start Pre-Alg in November, as I had hoped. Sarah is on track to finish Delta way ahead of schedule and start on Epsilon in the spring. She’s retaining the material very well too. She’ll probably be one of those kids who will be in pre-alg or Alg by 6th grade. If we continue to HS next year, I may have to choose a different L/A program for Rachel. The lifepacs work fine, but I’d like something that includes more creative writing and information literacy. I’m noticing that she’s not as comfortable with grammar as I previously thought, so we may use a separate grammar program too. There I go…jumping the gun again. J |
