Sept 23rd already?

Posted in Parenting and Family

I can't believe it's been this long since I blogged.  Hello friends.  I hope you had a good week.  Ours was busy as usual... but good all in all.

Upon returning from a visit to my MIL last weekend, we found that our oven was not working.  Argghh!!  The repair guy came out WEdnesday and detected the problem.  He fixed it temporarily and told me to fix it permenantly, we'd need to purchase a new ignitor.  It'd be $300 dollars!!!  I'm thinking, if it goes out again, we'll just buy another stove/oven since it would cost almost as much.  We missed our community bible study this week because this $75 visit from the repair guy.  Plus, our power went out right before time to go to CBS and didn't come back on for over 2 hours.  Good thing my group leader mails the new lessons when we have to miss.  This study of 1 Peter has been so nice.  I just love his passion for Christ and his sincerity/humility when he speaks to his fellow christians.

School has been good.  The girls are moving along nicely.  Sarah has finally finished her spelling units of international countries.  She did an amazing job!!  Now, she'll review the 50 states before moving on to more practical spelling lessons.  This has been a very good geography lesson as well.  Math is going smoothly.  Rachel is quickly approaching Pre-Alg, so I better place my order soon.  The rest of this level covers more geomentry and quite a bit of "finding the unknowns" in preparation for Pre-Alg.

Rachel is loving cheerleading!  She practices her chants in the mirror and talks a lot about it.  Maybe this will jumpstart an interest in physical activity in her.  Their squad is not competitive, so there is not much "exercise" in what they've been doing so far.  However, if she wants to improve her jumps, that will require some working out and stretching.  Sarah loves tennis, and is getting really good at it too.  She has gotten comfortable with her backhand stroke and says she likes it even better than the forehand now.  That's huge!  This 6 week program should prepare her for junion competitions next year.  Since I'm taking adult lessons too, we will be able to practice together and get ready for next year's competition.  I already see increased confidence in her playing.

Well, I'm off to bed so I can be well rested for worship tomorrow.  I can't wait, since we missed last Sunday.
