Indeed, this must be a very slow news week. Even though I was a bit tired of hearing about the democratic primary, this news about NY Governor Spitzer and his escort, Ashlie, is being over-publicized. At this point, the escort industry is being glamorized. The girl is being portrayed as a respectable, mature, business-minded young lady who is being “victimized” by this publicity. A person could very easily be de-sensitized to the act of prostitution if they listened to the news much this week. I’ve even heard it said that “prostitution is a victimless crime”. Good grief. This news story brings to mind a scripture that I read recently. “And this is not all that is meaningless in our world. In this life, good people are often treated as though they were wicked, and wicked people are often treated as though they were good. This is so meaningless!” Ecclesiastes 8:14 |
