Trying to homeschool in Germany
Feb. 13, 2007
update on Melissa--PLEASE write!!!
Below is the German, the short translation is that according to Melissa's parents, the authorities took her today to another place, without informing her parents either of the reason or the destination. The lawyers are recommending charging the social services with kidnapping. The recommendation is to increase letters and calls to German embassies within your own countries as well as to all the authorities here in Germany. (Here are the addresses.) Please, please get involved! Thanks!
Eilmeldung

Mar. 15, 2007 - Homeschool in Germany

As far as I know, this is not about homeschooling: since melissa is 15 years old, attending any kind of school is no longer mandatory according to german law. Official claim for taking her away from home is a serious mental problem, which maybe due to her upbringing.

It's true that some media reports are trying to say that this doesn't have anything to do with homeschooling, but I think that this has to do with the fact that Germany is trying to pretend that homeschooling doesn't exist. That of course is just my opinion. But the discussion going on at www.erlangen.de is quite interesting, if you read German.

I'd also appreciate some kind of identity. Anonymous posters always remind me of the person who sent a note to a preacher saying "Fool!", and the preacher (someone famous, sorry I can't remember who it was...I'm thinking Moody?) said, "This is interesting--I often get notes from people who don't sign them, but this is the first time I've ever received a signature with no message!"

My intention was originally just to store all the e-mails I've sent telling about our fight to homeschool in Germany. From August 2005 through February 2006, I also wrote about our experience in the German school system, and then we were out of the country for six months doing a DTS with YWAM. We've been back since the beginning of September, 2006.
