homeschool curriculum in German
A comment was left with a question about homeschooling curriculum in German, but with no way (that I could figure out) to contact the person. Anyway, all I can really say is that we do like Zebibuch (www.zebibuch.de) for language arts for first through fourth grade, but other than that, I'm not familiar with anything in German. (And I can't seem to insert links anymore, it says that I should check the pop-up blocker, but I did, and it's off, so I have no further ideas...)
Incidentally, I have quite a few school books in German that I've been given and will never use, so if anybody is interested in them, let me know. I have math books, social study books (Sachkunde), and I think some language arts (Sprache) books. Any I have (sorry, NAK--I'll check exactly what I have when/if someone is interested...) would be for elementary school (Grundschule, 1st-4th grade).

When trying to order Zebibuch you have to enter the school your child is attending ...
We order primary curriculum from Klett.
Wochenplan Mathematik works great for us:
K-4
Zebra (language) is nice, too.
1-4
It is designed for the classroom setting, of course.
Anyway, the design contains few "teaching" and a lot of independent work on all levels.
Both series include CDs.
Playway (English) is also from Klett and a lot of fun !

I just read the comment you mentioned.
I am not sure whether our curriculum fits for children that are not really fluent German speakers.
You could take any English Pre-K or K curriculum (like CLE) and do it in German.
Also nursery rhymes in German are a good start if done regularly with Granny.
Then some coloring books with the German descriptions written in.
Toddler and kindergarten books if you have some. Are there others Germans in your area - you could swap books ? Or try at eBay.de - collect them somewhere in Germany, and then have a parcel shipped.
Get a Fibel. That will be necessary. "Fu" or "Die blaue Fibel". We have both. They are not using phonics as you might expect.
What else ? Rosetta Stone if you can afford it. We still struggle whether to buy or not. The homeschool version is $45 each month on a 5-months-payment plan.
How about learning German at Granny's together with the kids ? That could be fun. Your husband might change his mind when all of you three start singing German songs at home - and it just sounds wrong ;-)

I had to laugh at this! My German is actually pretty good, but not perfect, and I do have an accent. My husband (who is German) has a tendency to speak English with the children when we're not in Germany, but the best way to get him to switch back to German is for me to threaten to speak German with the children myself! LOL

Only if the books are being ordered by/being sent to a school! I wondered if that was something new, but checked the website just now, and no, you do not have to enter which school your child is attending!
What is new at the website (I noticed it several months ago when I last ordered) is that they no longer say "for use in schools and for homeschooling," but say that "many parents in foreign countries use the books to teach their children." I guess they got in trouble or were worried that they might for even suggesting that anyone might homeschool IN Germany...
