May. 3, 2008 - MOOOMMMMEEEE!!!
I have heard that word shrieked through my house a thousand times this week. Oddly enough, it has never been followed by a child excitedly regaling me with a story of bravery, unselfishness, or some random act of kindness at the hand of a loving sibling. I can dream, though.
When I was a girl, I can remember my mother threatening to change her name to a dirty word. I don't think I'll go that far, but I am considering changing it to a secret word and only telling my husband what it is. Then again, I may just keep it to myself.

Yes, I know what you mean about the 'shrieking' thing. I've gotten to where I tell them that I will not listen to them unless they speak to me in a respectful tone. This works part of the time and the other part well you know, Moooomiiieee!!! Thanks for the comment on my hubby tribute. I've really neglected him and it was about time. Your mom's remark was good and I will have to remember it for my kiddos :-) . Blessings, Julie

I have actually told my kids that my name is not mommy. I will tell them that it is Susan or something like that. They forget about what they wanted and worried that I'm not "mommy". It is funny to watch.

My dearest Mommy Windon- you would tell me the word wouldn't you???? What would I do if I couldn't talk to you???? - I don't think I could live for much longer, I'd probably just shrivel up and die with out you! - so don't leave me Mommy! - I hope to see you soon my mother - and HAPPPY MOTHERS DAY! (you deserve an extra stupendously wonderful one!)

That's so funny, I've said the same thing so many times through the years and still do!
Once in a while I'll say, mommy's not here please leave a message. Of course my youngest has decided she now wants to call me "mom"!
So that means the long drawn out..... moooooooooooom! LOL
