My adventures in unschooling

My First Day

Today is the first day of our new life. And I could not be more excited.

I have been want to homeschool my children for years, but couldn't get my husband to agree. but this morning before he left for his meeting, he told  me  look into it.

We are that unhappy and sick of  his school. No help just alot he not where he should be.

Well, that's all I needed. I logged onto the net and for six straight hours I

researched every website and support group I could find. I discovered a local group was meeting tonight, so I called my husband and off we went.

The ladies in this group are awesome. they were friendly and very helpful.Any questions or worries my husband may have had, were answered.

So here we are 2 steps away from pulling my son out of his overcrowding and understaffed class. And I can't wait!!! My husband wants to take the weekend to think this thru clearly.

As far as I'm concerned it is a done deal.

Congratulations! Hopefully your dh will think favorably of homeschooling over the weekend. Good idea to get involved in a support group right away.....support is key! I'm not involved in a formal one here in my town, but I have a group of friends that is supportive, and this website is great! I do sometimes long for a more formal group that meets regularly. There are good days and days you wonder why you wanted them home all day? LOL My first year was the hardest, but I wasn't as proactive as you have been in finding out lots of information. The next year I put my kids in school, and then the next year pulled them out again. It was an adjustment. Anyway, ya hoo for you!!!

I'm glad you dropped into my site and I'm also glad you are considering Thriving in the Home School as part of your search. This is a book that your husband might consider reading. It's short and to the point (70 some pages in all) and takes you through some of the key things we've learned in our homeschooling years. Don't hesitate to use the link on my site and get it through Amazon.com or Amazon.ca but if you want it through your Christian book store you will need to tell them it is published through Word Alive Press through cschmidt@wordalive.ca. God's blessings in your home schooling choice.
