This is the actual duck that we saw.   Mom zoomed in as far as the digital zoom would go.  As you can see, it was not holding up its tail.

Matthew, Thanks for the picture and information about the ruddy duck. It's blue beak certainly makes it noticeable! We have had more ducks around our area here in Kansas since we have had so much more rain than last year. We enjoy watching them as we drive to town. Anita Curry
