My Journey through Homeschool Land

Aug. 27, 2006 - Back to school shopping

I was in Wal-Mart and saw all these mothers with their children buying school supplies.  I though about how times have changed.  They all had lists with things on them like crayons, notebooks, filler paper, markers, pencils, three-ring binders, and so on.  These were elementary children too.  We never had lists of things we had to bring to school when I was young, they gave us crayons and a new pencil and tablet every six weeks.  I wondered when they started giving parents this kind of list and why.  I miss the good ol' days.  I'm too young to have live in the Andy era but I wouldn't mind living in Mayberry.

I can't believe you are from Curwensville! No one is from C-ville (except me). I used to be Mary Bressler, and my dad is Elwood Bressler and my mom is Debbie Wright (who won Rotary Citizen of the Year this year). We just had breakfast at the Branding Iron on Saturday! (Which used to be owned by my uncle, John Husak) I graduated in 1987 and went to First Baptist Church.

So, are you a native and should I know your unmarried name? (And, if you remember me from high school, please don't hold it against me. What a jerk I was most times...)

...to say that I live in Stormstown now (State College). I also know Jen Ledford and spoke two years ago at a homeschool meeting at the Presbeterian church on different homeschool styles.

I update my other blog www.xanga.com/teacherperson much more often. Feel free to check it out!
