Feeling BetterYesterday I felt quite a bit better than Wednesday. This morning I feel pretty good. :) I didn't exercise at all on Wed. but yesterday I did. I again did my Crunch cardio video for 30 minutes in the morning; 10 minutes of a new DVD (I'm borrowing from the library) called 20/20 Kick (also in the morning) and then 20-25 minutes of my Power Walking DVD with weighted gloves after dinner. As long as my headache doesn't return I plan to workout again today and hopefully go to the gym tomorrow. Getting to workoutStephen worked today and I really didn't think he was going to be home in time for me to go workout at the gym so I went ahead and exercised this morning for 30 minutes with my Crunch video. Well, he ended up getting home a shortly after noon so the kids and I had lunch, I helped him with a few things and then I went to the gym. I worked out for 45-50 minutes (I lost track a little) but it really doesn't matter. I got in almost an hour and a half of exercise today. He took them to Kroger and to recycle so they had a good time with Daddy. :) Tomorrow we are all going to an outlet mall to *hopefully* get M some good quality pants and jeans. The ones I've gotten around here all get holes in the knees so fast! And the thrift stores who have quality brands for really cheap never have her size (10 or 12) like they have of J's (size 4). Here's to finding some good lower halves! lol
Crunch videoToday I was able to do my Crunch video (all cardio, no strength training) for 30 minutes and then did it again this afternoon, so that makes an hour-yay! That's my goal every day but I don't usually end up doing it for various reasons. My average is 30-45 minutes a day/ 6 days a week.
Elliptical TrainersI went to the Mall with M & J yesterday to get M a coat but no one had any decent ones, but anyway....we were in Sears and I happened to see their section of tools and exercise equipment was next to the girl's clothes section. Stephen and I had just been talking about elliptical trainers and their costs. We wondered if the more expensive ones were really that much better than the cheaper ones. So, after we were done looking at coats we walked over to the exercise stuff. There were 9-10 ellipticals, ranging from $399-$1299(and those are sale prices) so I got on each one starting with the cheapest one. There really is a difference between them! I couldn't believe how uncomfortable the $400, $500, and $600 ones were! I loved the $800 one and it is made by NordicTrac. Beyond that, I didn't care for the rest. Two made me motion sick and the most expensive was huge (really for a gym, not a home). Anyway, that's my consumer report.....lol Fitness accomplishmentI did something this morning that I haven't been able to do before-instead of walking to my Leslie Sansone DVD I jogged almost the entire time! It was like, 5 minutes of jogging then 30 seconds of walking and then back to jogging. My breathing and heartrate have never allowed for that before but today I did great and it was for 23 minutes! I must be in better shape than even a few months ago to be able to do that and that makes me happy. :)ExercisingNow that I'm not sick anymore (with the cough that lasted 3 weeks!) I'm back on track with my exercise. Like I posted, Saturday I went to the gym and got in 60 minutes using the elliptical and the treadmill; on Sunday I rested; Monday I did 15 minutes of walking and 10 minutes of my "Ramp It Up" video (lunges, squats, etc.); yesterday I did 40 minutes of walking/jogging and 10 minutes strength exercises. This morning I walked/jogged a mile and a half. If Stephen gets home from work earlier enough I'd love to go to the gym again this afternoon. Working out at the gymThere's a rec center near us that has a great fitness center with elliptical machines, treadmills, bikes, etc. They charge $3 per time or $20 a month. Since no one under 17 is allowed in there I can only go when my husband is home with M & J. Well, this morning I went and started working out at 10:00 and only a few other people were there so I got to do what I like and jump around the machines. I did the elliptical for 25 minutes, the treadmill for 10, then back to the elliptical for another 10, and finally the treadmill for another 15. So, total-one hour of exercise today! I feel really good and I hope to go again as often as I can (at least a few times a month). OH! And while I was jogging I happened to look out the window panels along the top of the gym and saw that it was indeed snowing! We've had it all day but only about an inch has stuck. The temperature just isn't cooperating but I know it's supposed to deop into the 20's tonight. : ) Routine exercisingI am focusing on getting in my workouts every day again. It seems like if I try to just exercise 3-4 times a week, I become unmotivated and it becomes only 1-2 times a week which is not enough. Yesterday I did my strength exercises with my "Ramp It Up" video. It has a lot of lower body work including lunges (reverse and forward) and whoa, my bottom is sore today! Today I am going to aim for 3 miles of walking/jogging and "Fit Kids" with M and J. They really enjoy working out with me to that DVD. :) Here's to working up a sweat!! |
