In the Life of Me - Halle

May. 24, 2008 - Goodbye

Hi. I hate to tell you on such short notice, but I think I'm going to quit. I'm just not into it anymore and by now, I really  don't have time . Even though summer is coming, I'll have a pretty busy one and before I know it, it will be school time again. And I also know being 13 now, I shold be able to be more mature and time managed, but unfortunely, I'm not. I've been thinking about blogging y'all all through my not-intended break, but I was doing other things at the time and I just never got to it. Though I'll be leaving, I've commented you all one last time. Well I guess this is goodbye. I'll love and miss you all. You were all such great friends!

                                              Bye,

                                                 hebullard aka Halle

Mar. 15, 2008 - Here I Am!

Hey!!! I'm back and glad of it! So much has happened since I left (with me and with y'all). Thanks for the comments and messages you sent me while I was gone. I know it's silly to ask now, but I don't care. How was your Christmas and New Year? Mine went very well. My main gift was a digital camera! All the pictures below are taken with it. By the way, the second slideshow pictures have to be rolled over to see better.

So our trip to Big Bend was really cool. The mountains, rivers and other scenery was just beautiful. We also saw some animals.  Mostly we saw deer/antelope, javelinas (which is the Spanish name for collared peccaries or wild pigs) and a large variety of birds. We also saw, on the way back Fort Davis National Historic Site and that was really cool, too.

Other trips we've taken are to see a bird watch, a day to explore the University of Texas, a dance competition for my brother, Micah, and an upcoming trip to San Marcos, TX.

Well suprisingly that's just about it. Thanks so much for commenting while I was gone. You're all such great friends!

Dec. 22, 2007 -

Hello! I'm not really sure where to start. I guess I'll start with the fact the that I'm going to take a 2-month long break. It's not that I don't like blogging, It's just that I'm too busy and don't fully get the chance to finish commenting or typing when I am online. I'll probably check my comments, but I might not always get a chance to comment you back (not that I've been doing a very good job of it already).

Also, bloggers have been asking each other to tell people about this very bad and very non-Christian movie called The Golden Compass. I'm sure you've all heard of it so I won't bother explaining. Anyway, don't go see it and make sure others don't either. So I guess I'll see y'all in late February or March.

I almost forget to say that my family and I are going to Big Bend National Park the day after Christmas. I hope that I'll get to take any useful presents with me on the trip ( i.e. new clothes and a new rolling backpack/carry-on luggage bag hopefully). I'll miss you guys, but I hope you have Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and any other holidays to celebrate before I get back. Bye

P.S. Have y'all seen Disney Channel's Happy U Year video shout-outs? Some of them are boring, but others are really funny and well done. You can rate them, too. If you want to them just click here!

Nov. 26, 2007 - No Title

Hi! It's once again kind of quiet, but I thought I'd write another entry. The 24st and the 25st of November have been the main highlights since the last time I wrote, so please spare me if this sounds boring.

Yesterday, we went to one of my favorite malls, because my mom went to get contacts. Instead of sitting in a waiting area like I usually do, my dad and my little sister and I got to walk around the mall. We even got to go inside a few stores.

And yesterday at church, it was my day to help in the Wee Kids (the 3-4 year-old class). With a small amount of kids, it's not always that interesting, but they're still cute kids who are easy to work with. Then at the 10 o' clock class, one of my teachers has finally came back to teach the class. She had breast cancer and had to have chemo twice, but now it's thankfully over. Everyone was excited about it.

So I guess that's about it. Blog you guys later!

Nov. 8, 2007 - Just Saying Hi!

Hey! Long time, no blog. (LOL). I thought I'd write a short entry since it's been a while. Anyway, thanks for all your comments - I now have 200!

So how was your October 31st? No trick-or-treating I hope (or at least not with inappropiate costumes). We had a fall festival at my church and it went very well.

Has anything new been happening with y'all? It's been normal here. This Saturday is the last one of art class and next week is Parent Watch Week at dance class.

Well I don't really know what else to say. I know I've been tagged, but those take a long time and I just don't feel like doing them. Also, I might only write one other entry this month due to my busy schedule. My sister's asking right now to get back on the computer so I guess I'll talk to you later.

Oct. 14, 2007 - What's the Problem with Halloween?

Here are some historical facts about Halloween.  They're all true so don't think this is made-up, but the author of this article is unknown. As Christians, we shouldn't celebrate it. Here's why:

Halloween was first celebrated by the Druids hundreds of years ago.  These people were very superstitious and believed that witches, demons and spirits of the dead roamed about on the night of October 31st.   Because the Druids were so afraid of these forces of evil, they disguised themselves as evil spirits to confuse the real ones.  They also set out food offerings to the spirits.  This is where the term "trick or treat" comes from.  The Druids tricked or treated the evil spirits.

The Bible tells us there really is a devil who has millions of helpers called demons.  Although we cannot see them, they are real.(1 Peter 5:8-9)  The devil, who is called satan, is responsible for all of the trouble that is in the world.  Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that the devil is the author of everything that is bad.

When Jesus lived on the earth, He met people who were tormented and controlled by the devil.  He made the devil leave the people alone. (Mark 5:1-20)  The devil controls people by getting them to practice sin.  Sin is doing something that we know is wrong.  When we sin, we are letting the devil have control of our lives.(Romans 6:16)

The only way we can resist temptation to sin is to trust Jesus Christ as Saviour.  When we ask Jesus to come into our hearts, His power helps us to say "no" to sin.  He also forgives the sin we have already done.

I hope that this is helpful to you! You can also pray, put regular fall decorations ( instead of Halloween stuff) and tell people about this.

Oct. 10, 2007 - A Quick Hello

Happy Fall! I didn't say Happy Halloween because I'm a Christian and Christians don't celebrate Halloween.

Anyway, I have decided to change my template, but I'm not telling any of you what it will look like so you'll just have to wait and see. And don't try to pry me open either, because I'm sure y'all will.

Dance has been going well on Mondays and Tuesdays. Last Monday, I got to lead the stretches, because teacher wasn't feeling too well. That's a big honor being that some girls in my jazz are older than me, but they're all newbies. This Tuesday, I got a new girl in my 5-6 year-old ballet/tumble class that I help and I kept my pointe shoes on for the whole 45 minutes in pointe class, even though the newbies don't have to wear them for the whole class. That got me a high five! Well talk to you guys later!

Sep. 29, 2007 - Short Entry

Hey y'all! I know I've commented your blogs a little more than last time, so if you don't see my comment, you might want to check again .

Not much has been going on here except school, dance, church and art class. Do y'all think I should change my template? I'm definitly going to change my picture in a couple months (at the lastest). I just have a lot of stuff on here that's taken me forever to get and I'm just not sure if I want to go back and redo all that. The other thing is, I'm not really sure what kind of template I want. Well, let me know.

Sep. 2, 2007 - Big News

I now have 103 comments! Thank you everyone for your support. So the last commenters were Catcher818, PeachCandy, funkyleo, Sweettunes, Kekoa and crazy4cherries. Thanks again everyone and I'll make sure to comment you soon.

Anyway, the big news was that I saw three girls T.P.ing my neighbor's yard! I was actually witnessing it. Even more interesting, I knew three out of four of them. The fourth one looked quite familair though, but I couldn't completely put my finger on who it was. The funny thing is that they knew to wear black and they're only 11. I repeat only 11 years old and T.P.ing houses at 10:30 P.M. I just can't believe. Well I guess that's it.

Aug. 17, 2007 - Pictures Are Here (Finally)

So here are the pictures (finally). Sorry it took sooo long . I'm sure I probably talked about posting them in each entry . By the way, you'll need to roll over the pictures in the second slideshow to see them.

Aug. 5, 2007 - Catching Up

Sorry I haven't written an entry in FOREVER. I suppose I'll start first with VBS. The experience itself was very interesting. It's mostly trying to help the kids with their crafts, cleaning up, sitting or standing around, getting something and handing stuff out. There was a little bit of trying to keep the kids in line, but other than that, it was quite easy  .When I wasn't working, I talked to my friends Alaya and Chip (the girl from Dallas/Fort Worth) or looked at kids' work and asked if they needed help.

I was so happy to be working in arts/crafts. Art is just my thing and I knew that it would be one of the easier jobs. I was even happier to be working with my best friend Alaya. We've been friends ever since we were seven years old and mostly volunteer together. We both love the color purple and are teacher's pets/goody two shoes in classes and take dance lessons from the only two dance academies in our suburb. I see her almost every weekend at church and even live in the same neighborhood.

The theme this year was Avalanche Ranch. Nearly all the kids bought and were wearing the same maroon shirt that volunteers wore. It was practically a blur of maroon.Over all, this was one of the better VBSs. I'm anxious to see what's going to happen next year.

Later at church, I went to the Real Youth Service for the first time. Qiute a few people talked through the service, but I was still able to listen and understand most of it. I have a few friends and peole that know me there, but I know more people than they know me. Real Youth has a lot going on, like their dance team which I plan to join this month.

Next we went to Fiesta Texas. The rides and just the way it looked was very cool. Some of the lines were quite long and slow, but most of them were worth it. It was the usual walking around a theme park, riding the rides, but getting a little bit hot and sweaty.

We got to see a show with dancers dressing up and dancing as Latin dancers. They did an amazing job. They had to dance and shake to music quite fast and change into different costumes for each dance in five minutes or less.

One ride was probably one of the scariest rides I'd ever been on. It was one of those rides that goes very fast with high drops and big loops. I got so scared just watching the people in front of us leave out the station or whatever you call it.The name of it was the Poltergeist. My mom just wanted someone to come with her on it and she said I could keep my eyes closed through the ride (which of course I did). I tried to open my eyes, but I was too scared. It was going so fast, for a few seconds I even lost my breath and was a little bit dizzy after getting off.

Tommorrow, we'll be back from Georgia. The first two days we were at a black homeschooling convention called the National Black Home Educators. My mom sold her books and I ,made some friends at the teen sessions. One was a girl named Hannah Clark from Minnesota. I had a great time with Hannah and the other kids. All last week, we cleaned my Aunt Juanita's house. IT WAS A TOTAL MESS! You could barely get through the office and dining room. She easily had 100 pairs of shoes and 500 pieces of cosmetics. Her refrigerator was the worst. It had stuff dated as far back as 2002. Yuck! Thank God we got that and some other rooms cleaned up. Plus, we got to see more family on Friday at Dave and Buster's. It was very noisy, but very fun.

Well that's about it and thanks everyone for the comments. Also, if you haven't noticed, I changed my blog title. Like it? Let me know. By the way, I promise that the picture slideshows will be shown next time. Promise. Bye

Once upon a time there was an awesome guitarist named Gary. Gary was amazing; he could play any song you can think of. Well, like any awesome guitarist, Gary started a band called Gary’s Band. After a while they weren’t getting any gig and such until one day they got a phone call. It was a friend of Matt Thiessen from Relient K who had heard them one time when Gary's band was playing at a youth function. They were blown away when he told them that he thought they were good enough to go on tour with the group. With the guys in Gary's band ecstatic to be playing with such an awesome group as Relient K, they packed up and took off to California. While on the way to California it began to rain heavily. Gary began to worry they wouldn't make it to California to play! So they just sat, somberly, looking out of the windows. Then things started to get worse. First off, the rain wasn't rain at all; Gary saw when he looked harder. It was hail. And as he looked, the hail began to grow larger. Soon it was the size of ping-pong-balls! "We got to stop!" Matt Thiessen yelled back from the steering wheel. So they kept going till they came to a small town called Happy Town. They went to a hotel but when they went in, there was nobody there, then all of a sudden the door closed behind them. They tried to open the door, but it was LOCKED. So they decided they would just go to sleep. So they found 3 rooms and went to sleep. When they were all awake, they decided to go find the kitchen. When they found it, they opened all the doors. But all that was in there was tomatoes and pineapples. So they ate them. All of a sudden the floor opened, and Matt Thiessen fall through before they could stop him. Under the floor was a secret hideout for Thugs! The thugs were not there so they did not have to fight anyone. Matt said, "How am I going to get out of here?" Then the thugs jumped out from behind a door. One of the thugs grabbed Matt's arms while another grabbed his feet. They busily began tying ropes around them while a third thug supervised. Matt suddenly had a brainstorm! Meaning that the hail from outside was now falling on his head. While he was being tied up, he said that his only regret to life was that he had never met an Elvis impersonating Penguin. One of the thugs said, "I can do a great impersonation of Elvis!" He pulled off the black mask that he was wearing and underneath was a pink penguin. "I just wanna be your teddy bear!" he sang! Then, while all the other thugs were watching him dance, Gary and the others pulled Matt back up with a rope. They ran to the door so that the thugs wouldn’t get them, but the door was still locked!! Gary ran into his room and started to pray for help. Just then his knee hit a button of some sort and a secret door opened. He fell (yet again) down a very long and dark tunnel, of which there seemed to be no end. Just when he wanted to die, he stopped falling, bouncing insanely on something stretchy and slimy....  A bubble gum trampoline partly covered in snake skin! “Yuck!” Gary shouted as he wondered who in the world put that nasty trampoline there.

Rules: Every time you are tagged you must copy and paste the story on your post and add 2 lines and tag 7 others. If you choose to end a story it must be more then 20 lines and you must start another one with 2 lines and tag 7 people. Story must not exceed 50 lines. Post these rules on your blog. I’ll tag YankeesGirl, actresssinger1213, shootingstar, littlemissleigh, popstargirl94, bbullard and Kekoa. BTW, my two sentences are aqua-colored.

Also, not only did we just get back from our trip, but today was the first day of Vacation Bible School! There was a lot of waiting around and there was this extremely obnoxious and annoying boy that I got put volunteering with, but I still had a good time. I even got to volunteer with a nice and funny girl all the way from Dallas/Fort Worth. Oh yeah. Did I mention that I went to the Real Youth Service for the first time? Well, I did. It’s the service for the pre-teens to young adults of our church. I’ll give you the details on that later. Good bye for now.

Jul. 2, 2007 - Trip to Georgia

Our trip to Georgia went very well. First of all, I got to sit in the back row of our SUV for the first two days. Micah had to sit in the middle row (by himself) and be the controller of the a/c - even when he was asleep. Our car was much more packed than usual with all the luggage, but it was still a comfortable ride anyway.

On the first day, we stopped for the night in Louisiana. Before we got to the hotel, we went to a museum called the Sci-Port Discovery Center. It was very fun and educational and a lot of the stuff you got to do yourself.

The only bad thing was there were a lot of little kids running around, screaming for their moms and not saying "excuse me". Then, a show about constellations REALLY dragged on. You would think that guy was throwing a snooze-a-fest or something.

The other thing was that our hotel wasn't as nice and big as the ones we usually stay at, but that's okay. We were only staying there for one night anyway. Also, the crowd was a little bit rough-looking, but very friendly.

The second day, we went all the way to Atlanta, Georgia, but we had to sit in traffic for a whole 2 hours. Apparently, there was a wreck that killed 3 people. Traffic was backed up for a total of 5 hours.

The third day, my Aunt Marilyn came with us to the Georgia Aquarium. It was unbelievable (in a good way, of course). The fish were amazing and very colorful. So was the aquarium itself. Home Depot, the Georgia Aquarium's biggest sponsor, did a good job on building it. Everyone had a camera or at least stopped to look at the animals for quite a while.

All the exhibits were divided by where the animals lived. They had 1 cold-water exhibit, 1 river-water exhibit, 1 coastal-water exhibit and 2 ocean-water exihibits. The touch pools were very interesting, but very cold. I touched a closed-up sea anenome and that touch pool was 50 degrees cold. Micah touched a shrimp and said that it was very slimy.

The two main animals everybody loved were the beluga whales and the whale sharks. I think the animal that we saw the most of were stingrays.

They had a gift shop which you had to go through. The gifts were amazing, but a little bit price-y. They had everything from jewelry to home decor. I got a pin for my backpack (which I don't usually get at aquariums), Savannah got a magnet and Micah got a pencil case with pencils and a pencil sharpener, an eraser and a ruler.

After that, we drove around a little. Then we met my Aunt Juanita to eat at a resturant called the OK Cafe. It was named after the one in the book To Kill a Mockingbird. It was different than most resturants and had very colorful art-work. Their food was very good, too, especially their cherry lemonade.

Later that night, we visited Aunt Marilyn's house. She gave us lots of birthday presents that I kind of forgot about. I was thankful that she remembered.

The next day, we saw some Georgia colleges before we went to Aunt Juanita's retirement party. The party was held in a courtroom with very comfortable seats. Aunt Juanita reserved front row seats for family and floor seats for speakers and extra close friends.

With all the speakers, the program dragged on a little bit. Even Aunt Juanita made small jokes about people being between her and the food. Some people though, did a short speach, but most of them were kind of long. By the way, Aunt Juanita served more than hors d'oeuvres and water. In fact, she had a strawberry cake with chocolate and white chocolate covered strawberries and even more.

Aunt Juanita's friends gave her a limo, which we got to ride around the hotel in. It had a small tv in it and even had glowing lights that changed colors.

We thought only four of our relatives would be coming over to the hotel, but I think Aunt Juanita misunderstood Mom when she said that we had a big suite. She brought over four relatives, including herself, and five friends. It kind of turned into an after party.

I didn't realize how loud it was until I was outside the room. At one point, I thought the manager or even the police (if there were any around) was going to come to our room to shut us up. Suprisingly, no one did.

After that we went to Columbus, Georgia and stayed with my Aunt Mamie. Her house had lots of unopened or very old and dusty stuff lying everywhere, there were bugs flying and crawling all over the place and it was very cold. There was even a baby scorpion crawling around the air mattress. What was interesting about her house is her big screen tv with surround sound and plenty of DVDs to keep us entertained.

We looked at even more colleges and I got two National Historic Site pins, in one day. It's never even happenend before that I get two pins in one trip.

Then, we moved on to Florida and saw Mom's cousin Rita. Her house was very nice and we even got to swim in her pool. Her air mattress was a little bit small though. Now we're back home.

P.S.- Sorry I'm so detailed, but this was a big trip to cover. Also, I will have to post the pictures later. CVS didn't get my pictures out of the camera very well, so I'll either have to use Micah's or Mom's. Don't think I've forgotten about the recital pictures, either. Those are also waiting on Mom's camera. Last, but not least, what happened to all my comments! I thank everyone for their good work and now I only have 2. Let's all try to fix that please.

P.P.S.- Thank you for the two people that did  comment.

Jun. 20, 2007 - Comments/Travels/Sign Language

First of all, thanks everyone for your comments. This is a new record for me to have 9 comments on just one entry. I'll soon have 50 comments, then 100 before I know it. Thanks again everyone for making that possible.

Today, my family and I came back from Lufkin. We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites and it was very nice. Our window-view was of the forest on the right side of the hotel. It was suprisingly calming and peaceful and we even saw a cardinal flying in the trees. Not only did the hotel have a DVD and VCR player, but it also had a bathtub with jetstreams. It felt a little different than a jacuzzi (mostly because of the space). The only bad thing was for some reason, the jetstreams wouldn't shut off. It stayed on for a really long time. In fact, it stayed on all night and was even still going after we left. My family and I and even the manager didn't know how to cut it off or what made it stay on for so long. I think we might have pressed the button too many times.

Also today (and tomorrow), my brother, Micah, and I have sign language and on Friday we have a sign language concert. I think we're signing a song called I Lift Up My Hands. On a different song we've been practicing, Sis. Rhonda, our sign language teacher, has extended my solo part in the song. At first, I wasn't even going to have a part in the song. Sis. Rhonda was going to reserve Christmas solos for me and another girl who wanted a part in the song. But because I was standing in the middle, I now have a part signing the bridge and chorus' before and after the bridge. I'm really happy about that!

Early in the morning this Saturday, we'll be leaving on our big trip of the year, to Georgia for my aunt's retirement party. We're going to take our three-row car all the way there. I'm very excited about the party but it will be three hours.   The only thing that will probably be served is water and hors d'oeuvres.  There will probably be no one around my age to talk to.  I hope it will turn out a little bit better than I think it will.   That's about it.

Jun. 9, 2007 - Dance Recital

Last Saturday was my dance recital and Thursday and Friday were the rehearsals. On the first rehearsal, we just wear our regular dance clothes, but on the dress rehearsal and recital, we wear our costumes and full make-up. I had a great time  !

My Sunday School teacher came and I even got some pictures with my friends Nicole and Kenya. The only bad things were:  (1.) Most of the pictures that were taken with my digital camera didn't come out so well. Thankfully, Mom took the same pictures with her camera. Her pictures came out well and I will post them later.  (2.) I messed up one time in each dance, but it wasn't a big enough mistake to make the audience do anything disturbing.  (3.) At the dress rehearsal, I forgot to take my bow with the student demonstraters/assistants. I remembered to do it at the recital, though.  (4.) I missed most of the dances, mostly because of trying to wear broken glasses to see and constantly changing costumes. Fortunately, Mom bought the DVD this year. Other than that, everything went really well.

Next year, I'll take just ballet and tap. I almost forgot to say that after church tomorrow, we're going to stay in a new hotel in Corpus Christi. That's all for now.

May. 28, 2007 - Moody Gardens/ On the Road/ Upcoming Dance Recital

These are pictures of things I saw at Moody Gardens.   I took more pictures, but some of them didn’t come out very well.   In addition to these pictures, I also wanted to type that we are on our way to Tyler and College Station.   Right now, it’s not quite raining, but it’s been raining for a very long time.   I hope that all the rain clears so we will get to swim at the hotel.   We rarely get to swim at the hotel because it’s either too cold, or the water’s fine but we forgot our swimsuits, or we just don’t have time to do it.

This Saturday is our dance recital and this year I’ve been assigned to help with the finale.   My brother and I get to help my sister’s class take their bow.   In addition to that, I will have to run backstage to take a bow with the assistants.    I will post the dance recital pictures soon.

On Wednesday, there will be pizza and ice cream at our church class.   Usually, we don’t eat those kinds of snacks, but with the Word War, which is a competition between the boys and the girls to see who knows the Bible best, we get these snacks instead.   Unfortunately, the boys won again for the fourth time in a row, but both teams gets pizza and ice cream.   That’s about it, so this will be a very busy week, but next week might be a bit quieter.   That’s all for now.

May. 5, 2007 - Best Three Days Ever

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday were some of the best three days of my life.  On Thursday, I finished school early and ballet class was great! For the first 45 minutes all the students got to tumble and look at costumes in magazines.   My teacher, Mrs. Laura, didn't put on classical music while we did our pirouette combinatoin. She even let us wear cover-ups during class.   All this stuff only happens at the class before Christmas.   We got Sonic afterward.   We went to Galveston for my dad's business convetion.  My mom and dad drove both cars which has never happened before, but I wish it happened more often because it was a very comfortable ride.  The hotel was at Moody Gardens, and it was very big and beautiful.   The only bad part was that the tv didn't have Disney Channel, which rarely happens.   We also got to do some interesting things because it was my birthday.

On Friday, I got my birthday presents, which were some CDs, a gift card to Old Navy, and a digital camera that's not much bigger than my iPod Shuffle.   We went to the Rainforest Pyramid and saw some interesting animals.    Most of the animals were birds, frogs and snakes.   Thankfully. everything besides the birds were kept behind glass.   Other big animals were turtles and fish.   There was a monkey that was quite hard to see, and an ocelot that was much bigger than what I saw at a wildlife refuge.   We even saw bats and crystals in a cave-like setting.    We tried Dippin' Dots ice cream and it was very good.   My favorite flavor is Moose Tracks, which is peanut butter and chocolate chips in vanilla ice cream.

On Saturday, I got to go to the hotel's teen spa and salon.   It had a very nice setting with soft rainbow colors and flowers.    I got my nails done. The color on my nails was a salmon pink and on my toes is a light purple.   The lady who did my nails was very friendly and did a good job.

Today I got to use the Old Navy gift card and bought one outfit with a second shirt.   The bad news is I only have $5 left, and that doesn't leave me to buy very much.   I still had a very good time.

P.S. Sorry this is such a long entry, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway.
