Frisbees and spell check and black pencil shading,
Middle Earth, Rivendell, Lord of the Rings;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Friends that I know will be faithful for always,
Black pointe shoes, oranges, and long, open hallways,
Pixar films, thunderstorms, running full speed;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Green hills of Ireland, big, daunting bookstores,
Calendars, waves softly lapping the seashore,
Rich velvet cloth, perfect vowels when I sing;
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the dog bites,
When the bee stings,
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don’t feel so bad!
I know that's more stanzas than required, but I was enjoying myself too much!
I got this lovely idea from Rose, and decided to do my own. It wasn't helpful that I thought of just the right words while I was lying in bed, making me have to get up and write it all down... at 11:00 pm. I seem to have good ideas at the worst times- does that ever happen to any of you? It's awful when there isn't any paper around and I have to recite it (story, sonnet, or song) over and over in my head until I feel I'll never be able to think of anything else! But the finished product is usually worth it.

By the way...
I had wanted to get a blog earlier so I could record the memories from a trip I took in February to San Antonio, Texas. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, as is obvious!
Some of you serious musicians may be familier with the All-State audition process. Basically, a bunch of high school musicians, singers in my case, go through months of auditions to determine who shall be chosen to participate in the All-State choir. It's a tedious and complicated process, not very enjoyable, but if you are chosen it is WORTH IT!!! I was blessed to secure a position in the choir, along with my wonderful bouncy friend Josie. She is recording the experience on her blog, Pennies from Heaven, and I would encourage you to go visit and hear what I wanted to say in her words! She's too funny!
Farewell, until we meet again.....................

That's a great version of that song! Those are mostly my favorite things too.
Good job in getting into the choir. I'm still trying to get into our Church's select choir, which is, as suggested by the name, very select.
I would like you hear your songs if you every find a way to get them up.

Aw, that was lovely. I loved the way Rose did hers. I think it's an excellent idea. I loved all the pictures you included. :)
Blessings!

I read Rose's and both of y'alls were lovely! I might do that as well!
How are you doing? I got the comment from Emily! Please tell her "Thank you for visiting my blog, and I'm so very glad you like it! I do hope you get one, it's very fun!"

That is really nice poetry. It flows well.
You can generally tell, for they do have voices that resemble their elements.
The eldar are usually friendly. I was not before my banishment :), but new understanding has changed my ways.

I just love classical music, Bach's organ fugues are so amazing.

I was born into this world, actually, and did not know that I was an Elf until a few years ago. I am allowed to visit my homeland, and it makes the banishment easier to bear. And truly, it is not long until I shall return. So I wait.

Hey, your song is pretty cool. I liked when random favorites that had nothing to do with each other ended up in the same line. Frisbees and spell check.

Wow, that was a really cute idea for how to tell us more about yourself--I like it! The interview went great apparently because I went out to do my first event Saturday morning...I have yet to see how many, if any, of the pictures will actually make the paper though :-). God bless,
Toni

Yeah, it's still stuck in my head. That's so annoying.
Thanks! As long as those songs are cemented into my brain, I think it will go just fine! =^)
HTML is very fun! I'm so very glad I learned! Your template seems to be going well, keep up the good work!

LOL! I like that you added spell check in there, I use that all the time.
Well there's six of us total, so that playhouse better be a big one! And I already know how to handle (and have shot) a bb gun, shotgun, and a twenty-two.
I read most of the books, but that was about four years ago and back then I was so bored of the long dialogue type stuff so I should read them again soon. :D

"Celtic designs" and "favorite things" do not rhyme. It's almost as annoying when hymns try to rhyme "again" or "fountain" with words that sound like "train".
Aside from that it's awesome(especially spellcheck).

I know, it's really aggravating. I couldn't think of anything close to a passable subsitution. It had to be Celtic something... and the stresses had to match up, too. Very vexing.
Would you mind identifying yourself?

Greetings,
I enjoyed reading your post...very nice.
Many of your favorite things are the same as mine...it is always fun to see what people have in common with eachother.
I hope you have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,

Hello Grace~
I really enjoyed reading your favorite things! Many of those are some of my favorite things as well- Ireland, long sweeping gowns, violins.... I might try doing that sometime!
Your introduction post was very enjoyable to read as well. I found it interesting that you got your blog on HSB the same way as I got mine! Would you mind if I added you to my friends list?

Crystal and Walker are human. They have a faint trace of Elvish blood on their father's side, but not much.
I look forward to seeing your writing!

You jumped on the blog wagon knowing the right people m'dear. You're going to be one popular blogger, that's for sure! ;-) I'm glad to see you've made, er, several new friends already! I think it took me about a month before I even had twenty. Lol.

Yeah, Curu, Luthien, and Legolas (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/legolas) are my siblings.
LOL, I don't think you'll get very far with a sword! But if it was a last resort, then.....I guess you could try. ;)
I know I need to reread them, I'll try to do it sometime soon.

Not quite..... I actually found HSB by accident! However, I browsed around quite a long time and decided I wanted to get a blog. So in November, I got a blog and have really enjoyed it!

Wow!

I'm saying wow for three reasons.
First, "wow" you made that widget? It is really neat, great job! Second, "wow" you have 31 (soon to be 32) comments on this post alone! Good golly!
Thirdly (is that a word?), concert choir did such a good job at the concert last night! I liked the last song y'all sang. *clap, clap, clap* ;-)
I'm looking forward to seeing the new template! Good luck!

Beautiful poem/song! I've never known one could do something like that! (*gets an idea* Maybe I could do something like that...although it would probably sound a lot like yours, since you listed a lot of things that are also on my favorites list. :)
You've mastered the sonnet? Amazing! I have written one sonnet only, and found it difficult. Perhaps it just takes practice (why does everything always take practice?). I commend you for that! I look forward to reading more of your poetry. :)
Thank you for stopping by my blog and reading! It so blesses me that you like what I've written! And I would love to add you as a friend!
You have a beautiful blog here! And I love the title you chose for your blog; very poetic. It sounds like it should be the title of a book or a poem.
Very, very nice poem! I enjoyed it a lot!

Hmmm... *sigh*...I know what you mean when you say that music can transport you to paradise. I've had that happen many times myself. I'm reading one of C. S. Lewis' books called 'Surprised by Joy', and one of the main focuses throughout the book is the times in his life where things like that have happened to him: it's the 'Joy' refered to in the title. He describes it as a momentary longing for a something that's very strong - and you can't even explain what you long for - and then at the moment you realize what is happening to you, you 'fall out of it'. I love the way he describes it, because I know exactly what he means. I think that most of my writing is spent trying to rediscover that feeling.
You should definately post the sonnet you wrote! I would love to read it! :)
Grace is a 16 year old girl who is striving to follow God's leading, but would be constantly embracing failure if God didn't just sweep her off her feet, sometimes against her will. Music is her first love and expertise: specifically voice, but also piano. She has been trained classically, which is a good thing, most of the time, except when she wants to sing pop style... and can't. Her favorite genres of music are Celtic, Scottish and Irish folk songs/jigs, film music, and broadway show tunes. Grace also takes pleasure in the beautiful diversions of writing poetry, Ultimate Frisbee, sketching, dancing in the rain, Irish Step Dancing, speech and debate tournaments, scrapbooking, acting, reading, photography, standing outside at night while the wind whips the trees every which way, and talking about herself in the third person.
