Sing me to Heaven

Fields of Athenry

This is one of my favorite songs ever- not just to sing, but ever! It's... well, judge for yourself. :-) This video was my dad's idea... and a good one, I think! You can see I'm enjoying our YouTube account. And anyway, videos are more interesting than boring takes on my life, right?

These are the lyrics:

By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young girl calling;
"Michael they are taking you away
For you stole Trevelyn's corn,
So the young might see the morn.
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay."

Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly.
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing.
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young man calling
Nothing matters, Mary, when you're free.
Against the Famine and the Crown
I rebelled, they brought me down.
Now you must raise our child with dignity.

Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly.
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing.
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

By a lonely harbor wall
She watched the last star falling,
As the prison ship sailed out against the sky.
Sure she'll live and hope and pray
For her love in Botany Bay.
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly.
Our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing.
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

Well, I'll think about it some more. The risks usually seem greater than the benefits, but maybe I'm blowing things out of proportion.

Actually, I have one small suggestion: you shuld make a professional music video! You know, have the music playing while you take differant shots of yourself singing! That would be really neat, and you above all people could do it. After all, you do have Youtube account!

Guess what I just found out? After registration for the tournament on Wednesday, there's going to be a (check this out) MANDATORY ice cream social! How funny/cool is that? I've heard the ice cream is supposed to keep the kids occupied while the parents have a judge orientation.

Can't wait to see you again!

Do you by any chance like Eowyn better than any other "Lord of the Rings" characters? I took the test on your sidebar, and I turned out to be Arwen. :) Were you Galadriel?

Ah, I love Celtic music. ;)
We've noticed a lot of homeschoolers are heavily into Celitc and Irish music, and, recently, we've understood why..have you heard "The High Kings"?

Hello, Eliza the inquisitive! ;-D

Thanks for your music video suggestion. I think that's a cool idea- I'll see if I can try it sometime!

Eowyn is not my favorite LotR character-- that would be Frodo or Sam, probably. Eowyn is cool, though, and I like that banner under the comments. I've also been told she looks like me, though I fail to see the resemblance. Oh, and yes, I was Galadriel according to the LotR quiz.

I am so glad you like my CD. I like it too! Lol.

Tell Grace that I was very happy to receive her sweet comment!

Wow.

I didn't realize this was you singing this song until I visited your blog again last night. Before that I thought it was simply a Youtube video you had posted of some song you liked. It was my sister who pointed it out..it's you singing! It's lovely, and the video is lovely too!! I love Celtic music, and you are lucky to be able to sing these lovely tunes. Thanks, too, for introducing that particular song (the fields of Athenry) to us all! :)

Oh, so you read that comment on Paul's blog, huh? Yeah, I have to admit, I was pretty inquisitive. But, I just had to laugh when I read his answer! That was pretty funny!

BTW, on the LOTR quiz, I was Aragorn. Uummmm... I happen to be a girl. ;)

I just LOVE your blog!

Hello Grace,
The bleach did indeed wipe away my email list. It kinda' ruined by blogging schedule and also took out my comment replying skills :P Ah, I guess I could blame the economy on bleach as well but it seems that I only have too much work to do. Maybe you should sign up for the RSS feed at this link: http://ericnovak.com/?feed=rss2

Have a great day and God Bless,
Eric

Grace is a 17 year old girl who is striving to follow God's leading, but would be constantly embracing failure if God didn't just sweep her off her feet, sometimes against her will. Music is her first love and expertise: specifically voice, but also piano. She has been trained classically, which is a good thing, most of the time, except when she wants to sing pop style... and can't. Her favorite genres of music are Celtic, Scottish and Irish folk songs/jigs, film music, and broadway show tunes. Grace also takes pleasure in the beautiful diversions of writing poetry, Ultimate Frisbee, sketching, dancing in the rain, Irish Step Dancing, speech and debate tournaments, scrapbooking, acting, reading, photography, standing outside at night while the wind whips the trees every which way, and talking about herself in the third person.
