Well, I know it's been a while. I've been pretty preoccupied, though I do admit to procrastinating.... ;-)
Recently I've been feeling non-conventional. If that's a mood. But I've found myself wishing for things like red heels and white fedoras recently! ;-) And as a result, I've been in a rather crafty mood. It does follow logically, if you think about it. I rearranged my room somewhat, began project plans for the summer, and ordered pictures for scrapbooking, among other things. I also sketched Wall E and decoupaged my NCFCA apologetics box! I've been having fun! ;-)
I got this sticker out of one of those vending machines (that I almost never use). And since I love sketching like this, from pictures, I had to draw Wall E. It's my favorite Pixar movie, too! Yes, I do have free time on my hands. :-P
These lenses took some thought before I actually drew them... they're almost all black, but in order to get expression, you have to vary the shades of black!
His treads were the hardest part. Another issue of varying shades of black!
A few days after I completed Wall E, I showed my little sister and cousin how to decoupage. While they decoupaged small boxes, I decoupaged my apologetics box. I love pink and black!
Gloves are kind of my 'thing' in NCFCA. ;-) At the last tournament, I wore these white lace ones...
So, that's what I've been up to! Last night I also sewed a black strip along the hem of a black and white dress that I bought... it's so cute. Beth, you'd like it. :-P

You're sketch of WallE is AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!! Wow! Totally blown away here....
I love pink and black together too! I don't know what it is about those two colors intermingling, but it looks really cool. I love the way you designed your apologetics box. Great work, girl!

You poor, bored little girl. How would like to chat with me this Sunday? The amount of news we have to exchange is probably mind boggling!
Black looks great with just about anything. And the number of different "shades" of black (or any color for that matter) is simply infinite.
BTW. I posted. ;-)

You added pure awesomeness to your apologetics box! And I thought I added a lot of class to my box when I wrote my name on the label sticker *sigh* :-p (I lost it before because I didn't put my name on it). Sometime, you'll have to show me how to decoupage 'cause it looks like you do it really well.
And yes, Beth would definitely like the dress. Remember what Emily said, "It looks very Hope-ish". Yep, Hope would like it too. :-)
Oh, I LOVE that picture you drew av Wall-E! :-D He is so cute, and you have such a talent for drawing. My little brother David saw the picture, and he thought it was cool. He is a big fan av Wall-E.
And that box you decorated, so pretty! I really like it.
Have a Good day!
In Christ alone,
Hannah Grace.
btw, please be praying. My baby brother, Noah, is in the hospital and is quite sick.

Oooh, I like your apolegetics box :-) It so nice to have a pretty apolegetics among the rows of black boxs lining the walls in front of the apolegetics room (dun dund dun.... * Is scared at the thought of apolegetics and how empty her box is * :-D )
Scrapbooking! I can't wait to start mine :-)
Nice drawing it inspires me to go take out my sketch book and draw something!
I missed you at the ARC birthday party :-(
Hopefully we'll see eachother soon :-)

Your apologetics box...is...adorable! As is Wall-E, of course.

I would like the dress? Hm...did you get yet another cute dress for me to drool over? :-D

You girls make me smile. I'm so glad you like them!
@Josie: I'd love to talk Sunday! I'll call you... I was going to call you last week, but I went to a party after church. ;-P
@Christina: When you come over after we come back from Boston and DC, we will have lots to do! Besides hang out and talk: 1) Go shopping ;-D, 2) I'll show you how to alter simple clothing articles, and 3) decoupage! You can bring your apologetics box, and decorate it like I did mine! Not to match, but wouldn't it be fun to have similar boxes?
@Beth: Yes, I think you will like it. It's a checkered black and white print, with ruffly sleeves and waist line. And now it has a black strip on the bottom. I love cute dresses, and can't resist trying them on, though it's rare that they actually fit! But yes, I've acquired another one. Which brings my dress total up to a whopping 3. ;-D

Wow, Grace! I had no idea you could draw so well. I also love the little box you made; it's so pretty!
Yes, I will stick with flute, but I've been considering not coming back to choir. I realized that I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I did. When I took that semester off in '07, it was nice to have a little more time.

BEN, haha, BEN! You. Crack. Me. Up! Wall E indeed totally rocketh muchly.... *laughs at lovable phrase*
Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was aching to draw something Pixar... I haven't since Finding Nemo and age ten. ;-) Which was when I discovered that I could draw. Or at least copy. I can't really draw abstract scenes in my head very well....
ARC should have an apologetics box-decorating party! I'm full of ideas for parties. Anything that gets ARC together! Anyway, I like this idea! Maybe after the big Austin speech park day that I'm planning in my head.... =)

Now I look forward to meeting you even more.
Thanks for the comments. Its nice to be getting them so soon.

Hi Grace,
Wall-E is a favorite movie of mine as well, and so I felt like I should say something in reply to your blog post.
You did a lovely job with your sketch. It's so detailed and looks exactly like Wall-E! Such a cute drawing.
Definitely sounds like you've been having fun with your crafts & sketching.

Wow...
You are quite an artist. I work with pencils, and yet I still haven't come near that.
Nathan Harris
P.S. On a completely different note, will you be in ARC again next year?

Thanks, Nathan! I appreciate it.
I do plan on being in ARC next year... though I'm a very bad member. *guilty look* I mainly go to the tournaments and attend maybe one meeting per month.
Total different subject, but remember how I won 21 at Regionals? *fondly remembers victory* Well, my luck has flown with the semester.... ;-)

Hey, ARCer's don't seem to mind that at all...well, that is, the Hastings. I was talking to Christina at Regionals about joining ARC (strange, I know. But I love the ARC style in everything!). She got really excited, even when I said that the best I might manage would be one meeting a year...now THAT'S pretty sad. :-B
Yes, I remember. Poor you. *evil grin* Think you'll get pity from a former opponent? ;-Q
Talk to ya later!

We'd love to have you guys in ARC! That would be amazing. But hey, it's amazing to see you at tournaments too. =)
Well... if you must be so hard-hearted... ;-) Jk, I've always known that cards were not my area of expertise. That is why it was so surprising to beat all of you at Regionals! Fun times... I miss NCFCA!! Can't wait for tournament season to start.
Oh, hurry up.

Same here. I am dying to see my (three day) home away from home (the Houston facility).
Our club meetings begin next Thursday, so I'm getting pretty excited. Getting to work on debate and speeches...here we go again! Are you doing LD this year?
Hope to see you there!
-Nathan
P.S. Don't worry. I'm no good at cards either. There are a select few who are "skilled" (*rolls eyes*) at playing cards! Better at strategy and war games-boy's games, you know. :-D
Excitement
9:35 AM, Friday, August 21, 2009 Posted by GraceElizabeth
ARC is putting on a debate workshop next week that I get to help out with, so I am terribly excited about that! I think I'm supposed to dress up as a 'secret-agent' type person.... =)
I'm not doing LD. :( I don't really have enough time.... but I do plan on doing more speeches than last year. ;-) OO, Apol, and a couple of interps. I would SO love to do LD, though! *sigh* I guess I'll just continue as an LD timer for now.
Have fun at club! Are y'all considering coming to CFC this year?
~Grace
P.S. As for strategy games... Risk is an awesome one. I can beat my younger sister!! *cheers* I haven't played it much, as you can probably tell. =)

The Near Future
12:05 PM, Friday, August 21, 2009 Posted by Dunvegan Highlander
Secret agent? Why? I envy you. 8-)
Aye, I think debate is going to get terribly in the way this year-trying to graduate on time. :-)
As for you being a timer, that is no great loss. Just watch out for those TP rooms. ;-)
BTW-I loved your poem about timing team policy.
So...we're going to be up against each other again this year, eh? I'm doing an OO as well. I might also be doing a HI, and I have a duo script, but no partner. That is a bit of an inconvenience.
CFC...I don't know. Unfortunately, I doubt it. We're in Scottish Country Dancing and playing baseball with some friends almost every other Saturday, with NCFCA to top it all. My Dad doesn't too much like getting involved in a lot of programs. It was really tough convincing him to let us join SCD (actually, convincing him to let me get my kilt made that look easy.) :-)
-Nathan
P.S. Aye, I have won two or three games of risk against my brothers.
Have you ever played Axis&Allies? I haven't, but I plan on giving it a try. Stephen Strack says it is "the best war game ever."

The secret agent thing was Toni and Paul's idea.. I think. I'm going to be co-teaching 'Flow like a pro', but I'll also be leading a team of students. And I don't know exactly what the latter involves, except for some sort of competition games and the secret agent costume. But it's kind of a predicament, because I really do not own any dark or mysterious clothing! I don't know how well it would work to be a secret agent in a creamy white suit and lace gloves!! And sunglasses with diamonds. :-/ But we shall find a solution.
I'll look forward to seeing your OO! Everyone's OOs are always brilliant. I have the same DUO problem. I'd LOVE to do one, but I haven't got a partner yet. We'll be working on that one!
Yeah, who says homeschoolers aren't socialized? I mean... really! We have SO much going on. That is the most amazing thing that you get to do SCD!!! I really hope to take Irish step dancing this semester. I've been teaching myself, but I really need a real live coach! Ha! I absolutely love SCD and Irish step. But I'm going for Irish Step because you don't have to have a partner, so I will be able to dance anywhere I like! Like tournaments. ;D Tell you what... if y'all will show me your SCD, I'll show you Irish step! Deal? And if it's even a possibility.... you should really come to CFC! ;-)
That is cool that you have a kilt. I used to hate those.. but they've grown on me. ;-) You can't exactly love Scotland and hate kilts!
~Grace
P.S. I've never played Axis&Allies... all the guys I know tell me it is amazing. But I hear it takes forever... and with my packed schedule here, that is a problem! =)
P.P.S. You should email me your reply. It'll be easier.
