Apr. 9, 2008 - End of a Short Era
This post may be a huge let down for many of you as it is for me. The RV era is over. Sorry Christine, you won't be able to live vicariously through my experience. Thank you Kristy, Amy, Jennifer, Kat, Kellieann, and Christine for your thoughts and prayers over the past couple of days.
We still are selling our house, and scaling down our "stuff", but leaning towards and apartment. Not nearly as exciting as an RV. There goes my blogging material
. So, to honor our two months as RVers, here is my list of things I love about RVing (in the backyard).
1. Everybody is soooooo close.
2. Everything you need is within a few steps.
3. You figure out what you truly need.
4. I learned that cooking is not the enemy, being seperate from my family while cooking (and cleaning) is the reason I avoided the kitchen.
5. It only takes a few minutes to clean.
Now, to make myself feel better, here are the things I won't miss about the RV.
1. Everybody is sooooooo close.
2. There is not a lock on the bathroom door, or bedroom door.
3. Showers must be quick! quick! quick!
4. Single-ply toilet tissue is less than ideal.
5. It only takes a few minutes to clutter.
I thank all the ladies who have encouraged me over the past couple of months. You guys are great! Julie, I hope I can still be the coolest person you never met!
I'm sure my crazy life will not leave me blogless, so don't be a stranger.
Corey

I heard the term "shoilet" the other day and thought of you in your RV. A shoilet is a shower and toilet combined. LOL..

Well, it was fun (for us) while it lasted!
We lived with my inlaws for 4 months while we built our house (11 yrs ago) - me, dh, and toddler in a 10x11' bedroom - the lack of privacy (as my mil would just walk in anytime) practically drove me over the edge.
Surprisingly in our family, I would be the one wanting to try RVing as a home where my husband said he couldn't do that. I've even told my husband that I'd be willing to sell our place & just build a little cabin, off grid, but he, Mr. Up-North Woodsman, isn't jumping at the chance - go figure.
I'm sorry I'm behind on my visits - thanks for popping in! Yes, you are my 2,000th comment (party horns blowing)! Congratulations and thank you for your friendship! Let me know when we can expect you - I'll have the pie ready. :)

Corey, it's been a jot to read your experiences, your learnings, your triumphs, your craziness, through your RVing!
I'm glad you've found direction from the Lord and are heeding HIs voice.....no better place to be!

Corey,
I'm so sorry that you are ending your RV era. As I read I wondered if you should wait a little longer before making the decision but I know you two have probably prayed a lot about it. You seemed so set on what was best for your family and I think that has a lot to do with what God wants for us. If you do indeed move into an apartment I hope you find a great one (with a swimming pool for the kids)!
I'm going to miss the adventures from the RV

Sorry the adventure is over, but on to new adventures you go!
I am glad you have learned to enjoy cooking more. I hope that continues back in the house.

Why an apartment? You can stay in your house and save the moving costs? Just thinking outloud.

Wow, I've missed a lot on my blogging sabatical! I'm sorry that the RV dream didn't pan out (I was also hoping to get you parked in my driveway some day :) , but it sounds as if you've learned a lot just in that short time. AND, stopping because God has blessed your ministry is the best reason in the whole wide world, and just think of how much you now know that you can share with them. You KNOW how little the stuff means because you've done without it. Because of a very sad situation, we had to go from a 2500 square foot house worth of stuff to what we could fit into a 5x7 UHaul, and it changed our lives. Anyhoo, it doesn't sound to me like the experiment was in vain, it was just shorter than expected, and I still think you're VERY cool! 8)
