"Folk" Tales

Look What I Got!

Our eating habits have been changing over the past few years.  The Lord has blessed me with a friend that has been educating me about the harms of processed foods (among other things).  Many of you know that I hated being in the kitchen, so trying to get someone who eats out ALL the time, or makes boxed meals if at home, to cook from scratch is a joke!

Since January, the most change has occured.  I learned (through a very expensive RV experiment) that I don't hate being in the kitchen -- I hate being in the kitchen alone

Previously, my idea of baking was place n bake cookies.  My only knowledge of how to bake from scratch was what I could remember from the fable "The Little Red Hen".

Well, look at this!

It's a Wonder Mill.  It turns wheat to flour.  Before, I didn't even have flour in my house at all.  Now I make my own.

And I make muffins

and granola bars

and cookies, but I don't have a picture of those.  The kids love to help and they eat it!  Of course, I do put chocolate chips in everything.

Corey

I'm so glad you are making changes to feed your family healthier!

I, too have been making that change. Mine was forced by diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I had no choice, I had to start cooking from scratch. But I am very happy with the results.

Very impressive! :-) We've changed our eating habits quite a bit around here, but I haven't tried the grinding my own flour thing. I do make muffins and we definitely like the chocolate chips! :-)

Love it! I didn't even know what that little piece of machinery did, but it obviously looks cool. :') Now that I know what it does I am in awe. You make all kinds of great stuff now, huh? What a testament to what God can do.

I love it! I, too, am trying to go more natural. My oldest son has some severe food allergies, so that is where my motivation started. It is scary once you start learning more about our food supply!

Thats wonderful! Good for you for wanting to eat better. Once you know whats in those processed foods you dont have too much trouble staying away from them.
All your food looks delicious! Way to go. Thats one thing I do not have is a mill. And I had to laugh out loud when I read you never had flour in your house ---- I have a HUGE tub of it that I am constantly refilling. We use a lot!
Anyway, glad its working for you!!
