Three More Sleeps

We measure time here in numbers of sleeps until something happens.  We have three more sleeps until we move.  All of our boxes have been moved.  The professionals are coming Thursday to take the furniture.  We have Cheerios and PB&Js to eat.

After the house is empty, we will still have a week before the closing to clean, clean , clean.  We also want to pull the weeds in the flower bed, and mow the grass one last time.

Now, about that farm.  We were delivering some boxes the other night and decided to take a look in the goat pen because the owners have had hens in the goat barn before and we want to get hens when we move in.

Those goats are really cute and the cows are interesting to look at, but... poop was everywhereThis did not excite me.   I know animals have to "go", but OH! MY!  I think I'll stay in the garden.

Another thing, there is a greater need on the farm for play clothes.  Here in the city, my kids can go out and play and maybe get some grass stains from playing ball in the yard.  And of course, they get sweaty.  But there, they get DIRTY!  The driveway is gravel, and it is too fun to "fall" out of the hammock onto the sand below.   And there must be an unspoken rule that no shoes are allowed in the country, because my kids remove them as soon as they arrive.

Needless to say, this is going to be a MAJOR transition for us!  I have a lot to learn about farm life.  There is joy in the journey :)

Corey

Hope you don't step in any poo. Too bad I read your poo story while eating lunch ;). Just kidding. Have fun this week. Invest in some good stain stick right!

LOL, laughing at your sidebar! That is too funny - thanks I needed a good laugh.

Yep, barefoot cuts down on the wear & tear of sneekers. And I think good ole farm dirt is healthier then city dirt any day. Don't mind them pulling up a carrot out of the garden and eatting it with plenty of dirt still in tact ~ and with dirty hands that just held & petted every critter around - kids just seem healthier in the country.

Thanks for your prayers.

Hey Corey,
Your sidebar is funny! I needed that laugh! And I'm laughing about the "shoe" thing too. I'm constantly on my daughter to keep her shoes on -- only because I can STILL hear my mom's voice in the back of my mind telling ME to leave them on when I was young. I think I'll let that go and give up the fight! :)

Many Blessings,
Taryn

Corey, you will get used to country livin before you know it and I guarantee it will all become routine.
We all have boots that we wear specifically for being in the barn or when we are in the pens with animals. We don't have a mudroom so we leave them on the porch for the next usage. I've bought all ours at consignment stores and you can even find them at Goodwill so you don't have to spend a mint on them.
I think you guys will adapt quickly and even enjoy the newness of it all. Just keep telling yourself, "I can do this." I really am looking forward to your adventures...hope you get those chickens too. I still don't have any!
BTW, the country at night is so peaceful and you can see the starts so clearly...makes for a great constellation study :-).
Blessings, Julie

If you have a hayloft, you'll never keep the straw and hay out of your house, at least for the first month. I've noticed a decline recently or I've managed to keep a finger on keeping the house clean! Yes, the boys come in from outside filthy! But I love that they do, means they've been busy or working on something. So far the chickens aren't too hard, although I don't have to take care of them. It's my son't responsibility and the goat is for the other boy. The nights are wonderful and quiet and the stars are amazing. You're gonna love it.

We live in the country now and I love it. But it took me a while to get use to the fact that a grocery store was not right around the corner. Other than that, I have made it. I'm so glad about the sale of your home, I know its been quite a journey, but the Lord is faithful and the home you'll be in is BEAUTIFUL!! Good luck with all, Sherry

I LOVE your new MEEZ!

And I agree with Julie, muck boots are a must. We live in a very boring 1/3 acre piece of a subdivision, but when we visit our friend's horse barn, the boys HAVE to wear their muck boots. Just think of dirt as nature's preservative. I know it's holding my car together. :)

You know it just hit me. This must be a strange year for you all, going from one extreme of space to another. The RV was so small, and you were happy. The farm is so big, and you'll be happy. I think it shows great things about what kind of people you are, and I'm glad to know you, even if it is in this incomplete "cyber" kind of way.

I hope moving day goes smoothly! Try not to step in too much poo! ;)

Now this is a heck of a transisiton! The house is beautiful...reminds me of a plantation. I have a friend who owns a milk farm. They have a 9yr old that hates it. She doesn't like the chores and the dirt...lol. So she comes over here as often as she can.
