Things are going well now with our new household. I need to change sixfolks to tenfolks. We are in our third week of school. My older guys (Luke and Levi) are working on Sonlight Core 5 and my younger 3 (Isaac, Julia, and T) are enjoying Rod and Staff workbooks, Veritas K, and Isaac is breezing through 100 Easy Lessons. Of course we are playing a lot also. Little S (2) always wants to join in. He dances to the alphabet song. D (8) is doing well in 3rd grade at the school across the street.
I continue to be amazed at the chain of events that has brought us to this place - first, with our desire for more children. Two years ago, Paul and I began looking into getting my tubes reversed. Unfortunately, my fear of the surgery ended that route. We talked about adoption. Paul expressed his willingness to take what the Lord brought to him, but not go through an agency. At that point, I figured we would not be adding to our family - I mean what are the chances of that?
If you've been reading my blog long enough, you know about our "RV experiment". That is another example of how our plans were not God's plans. If we had gone through with the RV, (or apartment- another idea) none of this would have happened. We actually got a phone call asking us to live in this house. Two weeks later, after 8 months on the market, our home sold and we moved into this great farmhouse.
Had our plans worked out, we would not be in the position to help this family now. These children are not my children, they will only be here temporarily. However, I have the opportunity to show God's love to these little ones. I also have the opportunity to exhibit true Biblical hospitality. Not just having friends over for dinner, but helping those in need.
Now, to keep it real, I have difficult days. There is a ton of laundry to keep up with. I have to buy double everything at the grocery store. Lunch and dinner can be a logistical nightmare. There is a lot more to tidy up. And, a lot less privacy. Just the other day I stepped out of the bathroom to six faces standing outside the door waiting on me.
Praise the Lord for dragging me through this life and pointing me in the right direction even when I'm going the other way!
Thanks for your prayers and sweet comments.
