Just Another Day

A had a soccer game today aginst a team with one of his friends on it - he was awesome!!! I think having his friend on the opposing team made him a little bit more competitive! He is a great team player(i am allowed to brag) and it is really fun to watch him play! His team has Won every game and Tied 1!!

The little boys and I made Teepees today. It was a disaster - from my point of view but not from their's! I did not have my head on right - we used tape instead of glue, i could not figure out what shape to cut the thing into and we had to tape the sticks we had gathered together because we didnt have any rubber bands! S did draw a great picture story on his - which is unusual for him to take the time to do! It took us so long to do them that I just said school's over and let them play until it was time to go to the soccer game! Great teacher I was today!

We read a fantastic book the other day called Squanto's Journey by Joseph Bruchac. It tells the story of the First Thanksgiving from Squanto's point of view - I would highly recommend it!! The pictures are incredible also!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well - we haven't done much school the past couple of days but we sure have been busy! My father-in-law showed up Thursday morning to finish building our deck addition and the boys had a blast helping out! Daddy & Tat did a Great job and we now have a 20x20 deck instead of a 10x10 one that a family of 6 couldn't even sit on together! If I can figure out how to upload pics I will put some in here but I haven't had the time to do the research to figure out how to do all the stuff in this new blog world!

We had our first co-op with 3 other families that are also doing MFW Adventures on Thursday afternoon. We found this neat hands on kit from a company called hands & hearts(i think) that had some great american history projects that go right along with what we are learning in adventures. So we made talking feathers - which are something the Native Americans used when it was their turn to speak and we also made an oil paper window! That was cool!

Boys will be Boys

It is so fun having a house full of boys! I love to watch them explore and discover! They love to find animals and other stuff and "keep it".....Today Daddy took B & T to the river and they came home with a furry turtle - he has already escaped and mommy was just outside with a flashlight hunting for the turtle! He has escaped to his freedom or at least until tomorrow and B is out there hunting high and low for his new pet! About 2 hours later mommy was taking apart the fire pit to turn it into a sandbox and a lovely snake came slithering out of the weeds - mommy jumped and proceeded to yell at the boys to get out of the way - slowly! We must have watched the snake for about 20 minutes until it went back into the weeds. The boys went off to play for about 3 minutes and the teenager of the house decided it would be fun to start poking around in the weeds for the snake - they found it and proceeded to chase it around the yard and under the deck until they caught it! A put it in a box - which it then escaped from about 3 times - until they put a rock on top and the snake is now living in our backyard in a  plastic container - just for a couple days is what Daddy told them!

Inside the house we currently have  a dog, a fish and a frog - why not add a turtle and a snake to the mix???  By the way - it was a Garter Snake - mommy got out the trusty nature guide all about snakes(thanks grandma) and looked for the picture of our new snake!

Here we go....first time user!!

This is my first entry and my first time using a blog! I am a little excited but a little bit overwhelmed by all of this technical stuff and the mumbo jumbo language!!! I am looking forward to exploring and sharing with others!!

I am Mom to 4 Fabulous Boys! We are Homeschooling 2 of them right now. The oldest is in 8th grade at a Christian School and we are doing 2nd and k/1st with the 2 middle ones and the littlest is 3 and he just hangs around and plays!!

We are using Adventures in My Father's World this year and we are really enjoying it! The boys are loving learning about the explorers - especially the Vikings! We just got to visit Jamestown after learning about it for a week - that was awesome!
