We just returned the other day from an 11 night camping vacation to Yellowstone National Park. We didn't actually spend 11 nights in the park, but we did spend 11 nights in our RV. The memories made, spending time with my children and other family members and enjoying the beauty of God's wonderful creation, the fun times, and the great fellowship with dear family was all worth the journey (and subsequent sore back), and I would do it all again in a heart beat! This was a "camping" vacation, although I don't think that those of us with RV's really "roughed it" too terribly much! (Now, for those who were staying in sleeper cabins without plumbing, that was a different story). We stayed at the West Yellowstone KOA, and made our journey each day to the various parts of the park that we wanted to view. We saw elk, deer, bison and of course a black bear. We enjoyed the splendor of the mountain streams and water falls, the gorgeous rock formations, and of course watching Old Faithful blow her top. We saw hot pots and geysers. We had discussions about politics and religion. We ate like food was going out of style and we sometimes laughed so hard we could hardly breathe. Some played pitch, some played football and thanks to Opa we ALL rode in a crazy bicycle type thing (I'm not sure what it was called). The trip was awesome. It was a trip that I hope will not too quickly be forgotten by both young and old alike. And years from now, when we are just a memory to our children, I hope that my children look back on this time with us, their siblings, their grandparents, their cousins and great-aunts and uncle and it will bring a smile to their face and warm their hearts. Family vacations are the best--and the best part of family is being together. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 11 of 32 } { Next Page } |
