An Exciting Week

Well, lots has happened this week...

Last Saturday my Uncle was home from Florida and so we had lunch with him(My Uncle is the bald one with no beard.) ;-)

It was nice to see him again (after TWO YEARS!!!).

On Monday we went to my Step-Cousin's wedding.

Here are the Bride, the maid of honor, the flower girl, and the ring bearer coming up the drive in their horse-drawn-carriage

The maid of honor making sure that the flower girl and the ring bearer actually make it up the isle

The bride and her father

Groom and Bride about to become Man and Wife

Leaving in the horse drawn carriage

Later Josiah, Amy, Kay and I got to go for a ride in it

Then yesterday (Friday, our family day) Dad and Mom took us to the shore for a treat before Bee Season actually begins full force.

After a very long drive of 2 and 1/2 hours (I think I hear laughter... shut up Californians!) We finally made it to the ocean.
Here is Kay putting on sun-lotion
Josiah and Kay were soon in the wavesWhich were very dangerous, so we weren't allowed to go in past our knees. The Life-Guards kept saving people almost every five minutes. Dad saved a little boy twice, and also a little girl. Even Kay was a hero for saving a little boy from drowning.

When it started getting really crowded we left and went to lunch and then to a park nearby to wait for the day to cool down so that there would be less people at the beach.

Josiah and Dad climbing some stone stairs (The picture may be sideways... our photo-bucket account is having some problems.)

Everyone walking
A  girl with sunglasses (She must be from California)

After enjoying a restful afternoon we went back to the (now almost empty) beach.

Here is a cloud that looks rather like a sword

Josiah looking at the ocean

Me and Josiah

And then right before we left some seagulls found that the people in back of us had forgotten to secure their chips... The seagulls ripped open the bag and about ten of them gathered around eating the chips. It was very interesting. Unfortunately we didn't capture the most interesting moment on camera.

So that was our exciting week. We had a great time.
Have a good day!

Thoroughly Organized Thursday Meme Button

Welcome to the Thoroughly Organized Thursday Meme!  I hope you are having a good week.  Well, I started this meme, not because I’m some major organizational guru, but quite the opposite, this is an area I REALLY struggle with.  I have found over the years that not only has the lack of organization cost me time, but it has cost me a lot of money.  I really hope to learn from others as well as being a blessing to you.  Something to remember as you are considering organization is, that no one does it exactly the same.  Just because it works for one person, does not mean it will work for you, so don’t feel like you are doing something wrong, if it doesn’t work, just set it aside an try something different.  Organization should save you time, energy, or money, and sometimes they will save in more than one category.  If it is causing you to stress out or is costing you time and energy, it’s not really helping you be more organized.

My tip for today:  Put it in a basket

Have you even noticed things just seem to look nicer in a basket???  Baskets don’t just have to be the wicker kind, plastic bins can work really well also.  I have quite a few smaller science books for Little One that just did not fit well on the book shelf.  I bought an inexpensive dish tub (in bright red no less!!!) from Walmart for less than $2.00 and piled the books in it.  It works perfectly.  No more books falling off the shelf and it is easy to look through.  The bright color also looks really good in the schoolroom.

I’m still working on my Home Management Binder.  Here are a few forms I made this week for it if they could be a use to you.

Garden Update

I feel like the garden has been on auto pilot for quite some time.  There are few if any weeds that ever need pulled in a Square Foot Garden. There has been abundant rain and sunshine, too.  If only I had more space in that sunshine for more boxes.  Oh well, the lovely trees keep our house somewhat cooler, so it is a give an take I suppose.  Here are some update photos.

The wild "main" box.  We are getting a dozen or so cherry tomatoes daily.  Yum!

The "Green Bean, Basil, and Strawberry" box.  I need to make some pesto soon.
Ryan's box with lots of Zennia's about to bloom in the back.

Here's an up close of the Zennia.

I hope you are having a wonderful week.  I was able to go out to dinner with my friend and get caught up with her.  I do have a prayer request for her though.  Her sister- in -law who is a young woman (about 40) has been fighting cancer for 3 years now and it and it seems like it is getting harder for her to fight it off.  This family has 4 children the oldest only 12.  Her youngest had to be born prematurely because of the cancer and has lived her whole life with her mommy very sick.  This family is a wonderful family and it just tears me up inside when I think of what they are going through.  You see I knew her brother very well (30 years) and he dated his wife from the time he was like in jr. high I think so I was just a little girl when they started going out and since I hung out at my friend's house a lot, I knew her too.  Could you please pray for this lovely woman and her family?

Thursday (starting late Wednesday night), I will be doing Thoroughly Organized Thursday and if you want to join in just put a post out on some organizing tip (for home or school)  and sign Mr. Linky when it is up.  If you can't think of a tip, please still feel free to come back and read my post!!!

Please leave me a comment to let me know you came by!

10. Whose temper is worse? Neither of us has a real hot temper. He says he did when he was a kid. I guess if I have to pick I’d say me. I have red hair so I’m accused of it anyway.

23. Who kissed who first?  Pete did, but he asked if he could before he did.

24. Who asked who out? He asked me out.

30. How did you meet? He walked several miles to the church I attended because he had a crush on another girl who went there. Then he met me and relentlessly chased me for years.

I'm not going to tag anyone.  Feel free to do it if you want.  If you do let me know so I can read about your man...

It's 2:49 a.m. & I'm wide awake, so I ended up taking this silly quiz...

You Are Classical Music
You are a somewhat serious person who enjoys studying subjects deeply.
Art of all kinds interests you, and a good piece of art can really effect you emotionally.
You are inspired by human achievement, and you appreciate work that takes years to accomplish.
For you, the finer things in life are not about snobbery - they're about quality.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Saturday was our oldest son's (Prince Caspian/PC) birthday and we had a really good day with him.  We took him and Little One to see the movie Journey to the Center of the Earth.   It was wonderful!!  We were a little concerned about Little One seeing it because it was very intense, but he did great in it.  The movie was a digital 3-D movie and the technology was awesome.  Nothing like being chased by a T-Rex in 3-D!!! lol!!! But since it is a Walden Media movie, no one was seriously hurt, no blood, no gore and it was clean.  Warning though, it is NOT the book.  It is about a scientist who wants to find out what happened to his brother and is set in modern times.  It is based on the premise that the guy in the book was a real person who told his story to Jules Verne and now these people in modern times discovered how to get to the place that was written about in the book.  The pluses are it might make a kid want to read the book and there is a lot of science in the movies, but unfortunately, there is a moderate amount of evolution also but it's not horribly over powering.  Here's a trailer to the movie:

Here is a link to Walden Media's Trailer and other info: Movie Trailer

After the movie we came home and hung out a little bit.  Hubby grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and of course we had cake!

Sunday, we pretty much just chilled.  We watched some more of  Napoleon and Samantha an old Disney flick with Jodie Foster as a little girl and Michael Douglas as a young man and ate popcorn.

Monday, I am suppose to go out with my best friend for dinner.  I am so happy about it.  She moved to Poland a little over a year ago and this will be the first time I get to see her since she moved.  We didn't get to arrange a time while her husband was still in town, which is disappointing, but at least I get to see her!!!  Her and I have been friends for over 30 years! We met in the first grade and have been friends ever since.  She was my maid of honor and I was hers.

The rest of the week should be pretty slow.  Finally no doctor's appointments.  Oh, I have high blood pressure that I am now being treated for (from the last doctor appointment).  That was added to my list of health problems.  Geesh!  Hubby saw all my medicines together for once the other day and he was like, "You take all that???" Yep! I take a lot.  Hopefully it will be temporary.

Have a wonderful week!  Don't forget I will be doing Thoroughly Organized Thursday Meme on Thursday (starting late Wednesday night) if you are interested in joining me.  All you have to do is write an organizing tip for home or school.  Please leave a comment to let me know you were here!

Fluid rhymes that describe the bodies and behavior of these creatures as well as iguanas, seals, flamingos, and other birds accompany realistic paintings that fill single pages or spill across the double-page spreads. The well-designed book features front and back endpapers with a map and a handsome assemblage of the wildlife. The contents page appears at the end of the book and faces an author's note outlining the rise and fall of the tortoise population. The fluent play with words, humorous commentary, and fine pictures offer pleasing fare for reading aloud, and the book is versatile in its possibilities for personal enjoyment or classroom teaching about poetry, unusual animals, or the Galapagos Islands.-

Peter Sis's story of growing up under a totalitarian regime proves that creativity can be discouraged but not easily killed, and that the desire to be free came naturally to a generation of young people behind the Iron Curtain.

As his beautiful garden came close to ruin, the gardener began to see that the plants and insects were linked, that they depended on one another to survive. Accompanied by vibrant, beautifully detailed illustrations, this simple story of one garden introduces young children to the important concept of the balance of nature. Youngsters will be both reassured and enlightened when they find out how everybody's favorite insect - the ladybug - saves the day.
