Apr. 7, 2006 - Do we have any Seamstress here??
It is my dream to sew clothes. I made one outfit for my dd but never finished it because I ran out of time. So if you have a sewing blog feel free to post it in the comments section. I would love to visit you!!
I am currently having trouble in figuring out the sizing because of my dd's odd measurements. Her back neck to waist length is longer (size 8 ) but everything else is supposed to be size 3. Do you know what I am talking about?? She really has a long torso and very long legs which I know I will have to adjust the skirt part of the dress pattern to make it longer.
Thanks!
Holly

My blog is not a sewing blog, but I am a seamstress.
I have never had to make clothing for a long torso (I wish! My kids are all squirts!), but I can advise you.
Usually, on every pattern, there is a line that says "Lengthen or Shorten Here". At that line, on your size 3 pattern, you want to cut the pattern (Yes, really, cut the pattern!), and lengthen it by inserting some sort of paper for the amount of inches that you need to lengthen it. You tape both pattern pieces to the paper so that the paper is in the middle of the pattern piece, and you now have a longer pattern piece.
If you need any further clarification, shoot me an email at dmalament@yahoo.com. Blessings,
Diana
