Queen Eleanor
Ok, here is a post I typed for your reading pleasure a couple of weeks back and FORGOT about it.  Can you believe it!!!!  It's a wonder I did that since I have absolutely nothing to do all day long LOL!

It's Friday!!  For some reason on the weekends I can't wait for Monday to come so we can get back to school work, but by Friday I'm ready for the weekend so we don't have to do school work!  Go figure!  I suppose it's the novelty of the thing.  By Friday we've read everything and completed assignments (hopefully) so the excitement of what new thing we are going to learn about this week has worn off.  This week was a good week, but a bit of a slow week as far as school went.  We didn't "do" a lot of things this week, but we did read a lot and learned so many interesting things!  All the kids are upstairs right now watching the Andy Griffith Show - just chillin' out.

Something we read this week that I found to be fascinating was a story
about Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine from "What Really Happened During the Middle Ages?" by Terri Johnson.  We had just talked about how there was a power struggle between the Pope and Kings over various issues, and her name had been mentioned in passing in one of the books that we read from for history this week.  I happened to remember seeing her name in the afore mentioned book and thought it would be interesting to read this to the kids since this was not a really jam-packed week of school work.  I think it was the highlight of the week!  The story was lengthy compared to others stories in this book so we read it over the course of a couple of days.  The kids were so interested they didn't want me to stop reading, but I thought it would keep them more interested to make it a two day event.  Before reading this story I was beginning to think I had wasted my money on this book, not because of the quality of the book but because I never found the time to share the wonderful stories in the book with the kids.  Now I know that we just have to read all the stories in the book.

Blessings, Missy
