Dec. 19, 2006 - Christmas Break has Begun
Here it is December in Texas and I've had my windows open to let the fresh air in for days now. I worked in the yard yesterday in shorts and a t-shirt until dark and was SWEATING to boot!! I am so sore I doubt very seriously I move much today. As long as I was working I was fine, but once I came in I discovered I could hardly even walk. Whatever that thing is that God put in people that lets them know to stop….. Yeah well mine is broken. It doesn’t kick in until I’m in the pain zone.
Quick question: Which is more efficient in clearing leaves from your yard, a rake or leaf blower? Well, I will tell you this… kids will ask if they can help you with a leaf blower but not a rake!!
Since Christmas break has begun I haven’t done any of the holiday hustle and bustle stuff you typically do. I haven’t been baking, cleaning, shopping, or wrapping presents. I don’t know if it is the unseasonably warm weather or what. We have had a house full of kids since school let out. I have done a few sessions with the neighborhood kids with all our art supplies. They love that I will sit down with them with glue, scissors, construction paper, glitter, and paint and just make stuff with them. Em and Bran have had their friends stay the night the last two nights. I sometimes wonder if these kids would move in if they could.
Bran said the sweetest thing. He said, “Mom I know we are supposed to be out of school right now but can we still do a little school?” Now, I’m not sure if he is sincere of just sucking up to Mom but either way it was sweet and I give him kuddos. I told him we could do some History or Science and he seemed truly happy about it.
Today as I am in serious pain I plan to do very little moving about. In fact, I will spend the day frantically cross stitching away. I’ve got about a month’s worth of stitching to do in a few days in order to finish my Mom’s Christmas presents. I started it a couple of months ago thinking I’d have plenty of time but alas I don’t know if I’m going to make it.
As time goes tick tick ticking away and Christmas comes closer I hope the hustle and bustle doesn’t sneak up and slap me upside the back of the head! LOL

Starting to snow today! It is supposed to all week, so the weathermen say. :)
Thank you for the kind words on my blog this morning, they made me smile and cry :) It really is hard sometimes when you want to do the right thing, yet we can't do any of it without the Lord's help, and He never said it would be a cake walk! Sometimes we just have to let it roll right off of us, but then again, it's always nice to have a friend come alongside and understand.
Have a lovely Christmas!
Nancy
by the way, your blog is beautiful!

I just now figured out why I wasn't receiving comment notifications! HSB gets a little bit better every day. I have faith that it'll all be well soon. Thanks for stopping by my very neglected fouled up blog tho! LOL I'm sending you stitching vibes!
Dec. 22, 2006 - It's not just the kids....

I think it's funny how only my husband will offer to do leaves with the leaf blower is in involved. It's up to the kids and my sister if they have to do it with a rake. I'm giving my kids Christmas break next week. I've not been doing a lot of baking and such either. Our homeschool group had their roller skating party yesterday at the same time I was helping out at the Salvation Army for basket handouts. This Christmas seems different with the kids all wanting to take a break instead of working straight through. Must be the 2" of snow we got this morning. Enjoy your warm weather! Think of us with our shovels. Merry Christmas Snyder Family!
