summer thoughts

Oh well, 4th of July weekend was fairly uneventful, with the forecasts for rain. So we didn't do a whole lot. We did some shopping on Friday at Walmart - got some shorts for Rabbit and I got a t-shirt for an email buddy that says our state's name. (figured she'd like that) We also got some much needed cat food, which our cats appreciated!

Our neighbors went away for the weekend. They have 2 cats that have made our yard their "territory," much to the girls' liking. Our neighbors asked if we'd feed their cats, which we gladly said yes to. I did so without double-checking with my dh on that, but knew it wouldn't be a big deal. The cats know us well, and our neighbors know they can trust us. They have a funny cat door: It's a small broken window at the bottom of their back door!

This Thursday we're going to the beach with our church. It's for *going into* 4th and 5th grade and their families. My dh is taking the day off in order to swing this trip. It's an hour or so drive, but well worth it. When I was growing up, my grandparents lived in this town, and they gave me some of the childhood I couldn't have, living in a dysfunctional home. So this town is special to me, and I'm glad that the girls get to see it now that they are a little bit older. (we've been there before with the kids but they don't remember too well) This may be our last year in our state, if all goes well and we could sell our house. I really do want out, except for the shore. But I hope Piglet does okay when we're there. She's so hyper and it's hard to keep up with her! I do plan on taking recycled plastics (plastic cartons from macaroni & cheese, some plastic cups, etc) for sand-castle building. It should be fun! I can't wait! It's a nice, quiet area but a fun place to go to as well. Hope it don't rain.

In 2 weeks, the girls have VBS. Our church is doing a Power Lab VBS, which looks really great. Science mixed in with learning God's Word. Jesus gives us the power to... be brave, to share, etc. It's going to be fun for them. I'll be helping out with the craft station, my personal specialty.

I still want to look into going back to school to be able to work at home. I'm considering medical transcription, but not so sure. I really need to pray about this some more. With my dh having a rare blood disorder, the kids with their needs, and my back problems, this sounds like a good fit for me.

And Rabbit (aka mollygirl) wants to take a knitting class at a crafts store. There's one about 20 minutes away - the next class is next month, specially for kids starting age 8. I'm all for it and I know who the teacher is: a sweet little lady with a strong, German accent. (just like Grandma used to have!) It's only $15 for the class but you need to buy your own supplies. Still it sounds like a good deal and Rabbit will love to learn it. I think she just wants to learn something different, something I can't do.. kinda like an "identity" thing I guess. That's fine, I won't touch that craft until she's older and either gives the okay or is living on her own and won't see me doing it.   I do a knitting loom, but it's different for her. *phew!*

I'll write more after our beach trip in a few days. Can't wait, can't wait can't wait!
