I just love the end of the school year. Not only do we get to take a break and go through promotion... but we also get to see our children's eyes light up big and bright when they finally receive all those great awards they looked forward to all year. Some are for completing a certain grade, and other are for different kinds of accomplishments. It's a joy (and tissue moment) for parents to see our children rewarded for their hard work.
I'm so proud of my boys this year. They really put their best foot forward with their school work this year. Adding a new baby to the mix of things and having their mother (yes, me) embrace all sorts of mood swings, can really mess things up. However, we all did quite well.
Last night at our school's Promotion night, my oldest son received a president fitness award this year, an Awana's award, Student of the Year award (giggle ~ he's homeschooled), but also a Super Swordsmen Bronze medal for memorizing 3 Bible passages on top of weekly Bible verses!!!
My youngest son did just as well. His school work was great this year! Big improvement! He received a president fitness award this year, Cotton Candy eating contest award, Student of the Year award (he's homeschooled, too ~ giggle), and I wish there was a medal to give him for being such a big help to me with his new sister... being her friend and teaching her all sorts of stuff (like how to suck on her toes). We're so proud of him!!!
In reflection of the year... I have come to realize this... Children grow up way too fast these days. If we can keep our boys (and baby girl) grounded in faith and provide them with a balanced home and love for Jesus... then that is all that counts. It's fun to receive awards and be involved in extracurricular activities if time permits, but it's the heart of the child that counts... and giving them praise and adoration for being exactly who God created them to be is the best of the best award you can ever give!!!
Enjoy your Babies!!! They truly are YOUR rewards. |
