A Pile Of Homemade Tortilla's

My late grandma made them, my aunts made them...  and I buy them.  Why is that?  Well, not this week.  We took advantage of this rainy weather in California and got out our flower and salt.  Yes, we made our very own tortillas.  My grandma's recipe is so simple and yummy...

A pinch of this, a pinch of that...  a rolling pin, some strong arms, and a hot skillet.  We've got homemade tortillas!!!  Little did I appreciate the hard work my grandma did in making them for us with each visit.  It takes muscles!!!  Well, I had the advantage over my grandma...  I have boys!  The boys helped kneading the doe and I rolled them out.

I confess, my first batch was not very tasty.  It took a second try.  Then again, my grandma always said "If at first you don't succeed...  try, try, again".    So I did.  Persistence is everything.  Now, they aren't completely round... but they sure taste good.

Home Economics is sure fun when you homeschool - the whole family gets involved!  Love it.
