Generational Gap?

More In N OutIn N Out
The Night Of Champions...

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes puts out this outreach once a year - it's a program where famous Christian athletes get together and share the gospel to children of all ages. It's called The Night Of Champions.   There were famous skateboarders, popular bands, and the most famous California In-N-Out burger truck - free food!  It was great.

PHil Wickham

The boys loved the show, but was most interested in seeing their favorite Christian singing artist.  Phil Wickham.  Take a look at him here on UTube - click here.  He was great - always a pleasure to see preform.  I've got to admit, it's been awhile since my husband and I have been to "real"  a concert.  Let me tell you that things have changed!  I mean, the noise level is still up there and the crowd frenzie is still alive and kicking... but we couldn't stop cracking up when we noticed the generational gap.  I'm not talking about the age range of the crowd - us being so much older than the rest, but rather something else.   Remember when we would take out our "BIC" lighters and hold it above our heads and sway back and forth as we sang along to the slow song???  Well, this generation takes out their CELL PHONES!  Yep!  The singing artist announced to everyone "Take out your cell phones..." and everyone knew exactly what to do.  Up over their heads, cell phones open up with the light on...  and the swaying back and forth began!  My husband and I just stood there - I don't have a cell phone!!!  CELL PHONES at a concert?  Who would of guessed!!!   I felt my age right at that moment.   lol.

Anyway, the Gospel was shared by several wonderful athletes and many children came to know the Lord.  I guess it didn't really matter if we had our "cell phones" after all - it wasn't about that.  It was ultimately about the Lord - and so many were blessed.  My kids are still wearing their t-shirts and wrist bands!!!  Such memories.
