Well, we did it... we stopped at an "Estate Sale". Yes, we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Do you know they sell EVERYTHING at one of those? Even the pictures on the wall! Well, we found unopened boxes left in corners and cupboards filled with fun stuff. My husband loved digging in! Being that I am allergic to dusty old boxes, I toured the rest of the house. Guess what I found??? A piano sitting lonely in a corner with a PRICE TAG on it. Of course, buying a piano is not something I would even suggest fitting into our budget... but I thought I would ask the lady the price anyway. I just about fell over when she told me! Not because of how MUCH she was asking, but because of how LITTLE she was asking - $100.00
Needless to say, we bought the piano...
Since that day, I've gotten out all my piano music (I've been playing since I was 8), practiced a little, and decided to move my oldest son from the keyboards to the ivory keys. What a fantastic purchase!!! A beautiful piano, kept in stellar condition, filling our house with music once again! It's the center of attraction now when people visit. My son plays, I play, my baby girl tries to plays... and even my dad sat down at the piano for the first time in 15 years!!!
What wonderful memories this is going to bring to our family. I can't wait for Christmas when we can sit around the piano and sing together for the first time! There is nothing like a piano and all that it brings!!
Now, for the ugly part... my youngest son decided to sneak up on his father while he was moving the piano onto the trailer. He got up underneath and tried to lift it himself. When the men put the trailer down, it was placed on my son's quad muscles. No breaks or fractures, but enough damage to send him sitting for the next four weeks. You can keep him in prayer... it's been two weeks and he is still limping pretty bad when he walks. The doctor may want to put him in a cast to help him heal - my son doesn't like to sit still. I will keep you posted. But hey, at least I can play him his favorite praise songs and sing to him while he sits... right?
