Welcome to my little corner of the beach in Southern California. I am married to one amazing man who loves me with a heart of Christ and who has blessed me to be a stay-at-home homeschool mom of three wonderful blessings. My heart is for homeschool ministry and helping others through encouragement. I've been homeschooling since the beginning and love it more and more every day.

I began my journey in homeschooling based on Bible scriptures found in Deuteronomy chapter 6:6-12 Homeschooling With Encouragement is dedicated to encourage the homeschool mom. I am the owner of a Yahoo group, monthly newsletter, two homeschool blogs, and the Weblink Education website.

Please take your time and thumb through my past postings as well as the Ministry links sponsored on this blog.

Show and Tell With Canadagirl...

legos

What do you do when you find out your son has to wear a cast for FOUR more weeks?  Well, you go shopping!  With his older brother out climbing trees, taking swim lessons, and off to camp in a week - the younger brother tends to get a little...  well, let's say....   "active" in his daily routine.  I mean, if I had to go back into an ankle cast I would go stir crazy!  So, we went to Walmart and bought some legos he has been keeping his eye on.  In my opinion, there is nothing better than a box of new legos to keep a child down and occupied!  Great motor skills, thinking skills, concentration...  you name it - I'm a taker for legos!

My son chose to get one of the Star War's collection.  He is now interested in the Clone Wars collection.  I was surprised that Walmart had them - I've only been able to find the fighter jets at the mega Lego Store at Disneyland (or Internet).  So, I swallowed my "No, it's too expensive" words and purchased the fighter jet.  He loves it and doesn't care if his big brother is going to swimming lessons this afternoon or not.  Hurray!!!

So tell me, is my kid the only one who is Lego crazy right now???  I'm not "hip" to what other kids are playing with inside their homes (other than video games), but I am guessing Legos are still popular.  Maybe it's just because of the cast thing...  but who knows.

For more show and tell, please visit Canadagirl.  She has lots of fun things to share.

Look at your sweet boy in that cast! :-(

My boys are so into these little Lego sets now, we just finished Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Spider Man, they love them too!

He did a great job!

My son is loves Legos. We have not seen the Clone wars sets here, but we will keep an eye out for them now. He really likes the Star Wars stuff, and for his birthday in May he got a Mars Mission set.

When he got the Mars Mission set, I asked him if he liked it, he had been so into Star Wars. He said, "Oh, everyone likes the Mars Mission stuff better now." LOL. He must have meant that he and the 4yo neighbor boy had agreed together that the Mars Mission was cool.

PC is very much a builder and LOVES Legos. LO is not as much of builder and doesn't enjoy them as much. If PC makes LO something out of the Legos, then he enjoys them very much, but LO is more of an action figure, play set type of kid and PC is a builder and doesn't play with play set. Funny how they can be so different but still both VERY creative kids.

Oh yes, LEGOs are a big hit here too and has been since he has been old enough to pick them up. lol I usually buy all he has at yard sales so he really doesn't have alot of the really neat things with them. But we collect them ever chance we get anyways. They can be so creative with them. Glad you found something to get his mind off of his problem. Have a great weekend.

I'm glad you found something that he likes playing with. That is so good. My boy has never gotten into legos that much. He likes them, but never really asks for them. I'm glad your son enjoys them. :)

Jul. 18, 2008 - Lego is the best!

Posted by kympossible
My boys have been Lego fans as long as I can remember, and the Star Wars series is their favorite. Nothing like Lego to keep a boy occupied. Glad you were able to treat your son to something fun while he's in a cast.

Blessings,
Kym

Our son just got his first set of "real" Legos. We got them at an outlet store here in GA, and he likes them a lot. I can see if it really became a love that it could be expensive. Ever been to the Legoland park? Wondering about it now....

You ask if your son is the only one crazy for legos?

Well, it's funny you ask. My show and tell for last week was my 10 yr old putting together his new b-day present from his aunt. It is the AT-ST from Star Wars. He is absolutely mad over legos now!!

We have a new store that opened up here in the valley so I'm sure we'll be making frequent visits!!!

These are great at any age!!!

Thanks for sharing,
Robyn

I think that is so great that you did that for him. Its so hard for a child, especially a little active boy to have to be still for so long, He did a great job!

Poor guy. Good thing for Legos. My son loves his legos, espcailly his Star Wars Legos. My girls love legos too. I don't think they will ever go out of style. And the baby is a fan of Duplos.

Jul. 26, 2008 - We have tons of legos

Posted by bubbebobbie
But we also have rescue heros and Little Pet shops Pets which are really fun because the grandsons and the granddaughters play with them together in the rocks. We also play a lot of board games. But for building, legos are the absolute favorite (and duplo for the little ones to keep them out of the smaller legos).

Sorry he is stationary. That is not easy for a little guy.
