If You Give An Eclectic A Textbook...

Photobucket

In all seriousness, I am an eclectic at heart.  Even though I am with the virtual academy, I just can't stop making lapbooks!  Yes, this weeks study (3rd grade) was weather.  The textbook covered clouds and air pressure, but I just couldn't shake this feeling that there needed to be more learned.  So, I did a mini-unit study with a lapbook (on top of the minimal chapter study from a textbook!)  A true eclectic...

We studied all the names of clouds and combination clouds, rainbows and effects of air pressure and change of temperature on weather.   To "see" it all make sense to my son just because we put it together in a lapbook really helped my addiction to the hobby. lol.  Lapbooks are a keepsake and a learning tool.

We made pockets with weather tabs, an accordion fold-out, a flip book, and tri-folds.  My son colored and wrote facts down...  he loved it.  In fact, my third grader was so excited to show his neighborhood friends his weather lapbook after school, that he waited for them on the front porch!  That's a sign of the true love for learning.
Most of the material I used came from Homeschoolshare.com   - I used a book called Weather Words and created our lapbook cover folder from our imagination.  That is what I enjoy most of all...  creativity.
