I know you've been waiting for them *cough* - I made a patriotic fruit tart for 4th of July.
First, roll a tube of packaged sugar cookie dough into a rectangle about 3/8" thick (or so). Bake until golden brown. In the mean time, whip together some cream cheese frosting. I used a brick of softened cream cheese, some softened butter, confectioner's sugar and a bit of vanilla. Of course, a tub of cream cheese frosting would have worked too. Anyway, once the cookie is cooled, spread on the frosting:
Then start to decorate with fresh blueberries and sliced, fresh strawberries thusly:
Line-up the blue field first, then start at the top and bottom stripes to get them into place.
When you're done, you get something like this:
I will admit my presentation left something to be desired, but I didn't really think that through. Plus, I had to transport it to the party, so this seemed the easiest solution.
Gameboy helped!
Can't you just hear me instructing, "No, get your head right down by the tart. Closer,.....closer...."
Added bonus: it was WAY yummy!
