So Much More

Jan. 28, 2007 - Reading

Right now, I'm reading "Freefall" by Kristen Heitzman and "So Much More" by Anna Sophia and Elizabeth Botkin. Freefall is a fiction book..It's my 'fun read', So far it's been pretty good! The other one..Is non-fiction and challenging/inspiring/enjoyable all at the same time. If you are a teenage girl, or a mother with daughter(s) I would highly reccomend this book! You can check it out at Vision Forum: www.visionforum.com

That's all for now.. I've gotta find a way to liven up this blog! ;)

Jan. 27, 2007 - Going To The Movies!

My brothers, sister, grandparents, and I just went to see Charlotte's Web. You know, the new one with Dakota Fanning. It was a very cute movie. Not normally something I jump to see, but it was one of my favorite books when I was little so why not?? It was a very enjoyable evening after all, it's always fun to go do dinner and a movie!

Jan. 16, 2007 - Birthdays!!

Sunday, Jan. 14th, my youngest brother and the baby of our family turned 7!! It was quite a day. My grandma came down and brought two of our cousins (ages 4 and 5..both little girls) and then our other grandparents came over. we all had lunch, then sat around visiting/playing for the young ones, then did cake/ice cream..and finally opened presents. Oh..and we got a pin'ata for them to smash! Have you ever tried to one in the house??? Let's just say, it works..but I would't try at home folks. LOL!! No one or should I say nothing was hurt, but it was gut wrenching to watch these little ones swinging a large wooden stick with all their might!

Overall the day was very fun and we have an older boy in our midst now ;) I'm glad to see that he's still enjoying the easy things in life!

Jan. 7, 2007 - Epiphany

Yesterday, as many of you know, was "Epiphany". The day that we celebrate as the day the wisemen found Jesus. (Yes we dont' actually know when they found him...but it's just a holiday!). My mom was doing some research on Epiphany traditions. One lady wrote a little message on Epiphany and something you can 'get' from it.

She said that when the wisemen went to Jesus they knew that no, they could not go back the way the came and go tell Herod what they'd found. The knew that they'd have to go home a new way. In the same way, when people come to find Christ as their King and Savior they can not go back down the same road, instead they have to go on living a new life. They are changed for the better because of what they found in Jesus! She challenged anyone reading it to, be like the wisemen..to go on as better people, changed people who want to follow the ways of Jesus.

So, I leave you with that...In this new year, make a truly NEW year by giving Jesus a NEW you. One that strives to serve Him with EVERYTHING you are worth!

Happy New Year!

Jan. 4, 2007 - Good To Be Home!

My family went on a little vacation for a long weekend. We left early Saturday morning and returned yesterday around 3pm. After getting the car unloaded and the kids unpacked it was time to get dinner going. After discovering some meat that needed to be used I decided to take the 'easy' route and do a meatloaf. (I know, I'm blessed..it's an easy meal, and my family LOVES it)!!! This morning, it was 'back to work'..It was good to be back though :). I got home about an hour ago and decided to sort through the dirty laundry from our trip. I loaded up the washer and now I've got some free time on my hands!!!

Our trip: it was a BLAST! We stayed at a motel with an indoor pool/hot tub etc. That alone was fun but we also did sooo much more: a little shopping, go-carting, ice skating, caught a movie at the IMAX, went to a snowboarind competition, ate delicious food, went to a museum complete with an old restored house from the late 1800's,  went snow tubing, and I know I'm forgetting a few other things.

    Dec. 26, 2006 - What A Day!

Christmas was very enjoyable! Between the family and friends that stopped by, visited, ate, and played games, I think it was a good time for everyone! :) The joy of Jesus was present that day...and I'll say its' still floating around!

Have you ever notice how different people act during the Christmas season?? The mail lady is nicer, the checker at the grocery has more patience with the elderly, the door is held instead of 'dropped' in your face, etc.. It truly is "the most wonderful time of the year"! I can't help but think it's people getting a little closer to God and seeing the joy of loving Him! How long will your closeness last this year??????? Ya know, you don't  have to 'lose' it at all, it can be a lifestyle! :)

Today, was back to work though! I had to work today and it turned out to be a surprisingly busy day in the life of this 'barista'...I work at a Coffee Shop during the afternoon. It's more like a Starbucks, with the exception that we do serve soups and sandwhiches. It feels good to be home!
