"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!!"
Posted in Misc.
(You might want to turn my player off in the sidebar~you'll get more enjoyment from this if you do!)
Anyone from the '80's? Anyone? Anyone? Well, I AM!!! Ya know, you start out wanting to be a good parent. You invest into your children things that will help them grow and learn. You teach them what you know so they can get along in the world. Well, my hubby and I also like to get into 'their' world. (That's what all the good 'teachers' and leaders say right? Yeah, what do they know anyway!)
We had a birthday party last week and being the loving, caring, getting-into-their-world kinda parents we are we wanted to get Kung-Fu Panda a gift he REALLY wanted. Nana and Papa thought this was a great idea so they jumped on board and helped out. Great idea, you say? Well, wait till I tell you what he got!!
Anyone ever heard of the PS2 game 'Rockband'? No? Well, let me tell you about it! It's like Guitar Hero in that it takes songs from the '60's, '70's, '80's and '90's and plays them while you try to 'play' along on your guitar. Rockband is different in that it also includes drums, a microphone and a second guitar. We thought "Hey, all four of us can play at the same time!!"
The way to play is you must hit the corresponding colored key and strum at the same time to 'play' the note. (It's not as easy as you think. I play an instrument so I know I have rhythym.)

(Please forgive the 'girl'~It's not meant to be offensive!)
Do you see the colors? Hit the color and strum. Hit the color and strum. Oh, and it doesn't always stay the same color. Nooooo, that would be too easy now wouldn't it! All of this to music from different eras. Just what song do you think my kids enjoy most? Let me tell you~
AAAAHHHHHH!!! It's back to haunt me!! I thought I'd left all the '80's hair and clothes behind me. NOW I CAN'T GET THAT SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Were you brave enough to stay and see the hair? The clothes?
This is when I praise God for his grace and mercy, right? For his deliverance from the EVIL OF THIS WORLD? I know I seriously praise Him that I don't have to wear my hair that way anymore. Do you KNOW how hard it is to get stick straight, fine hair to get this way?
This is the song my kids want to master so they play it over and over and over until my husband or I yell 'TURN IT OFF OR CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SONG!!!!!!!!!" When did we turn into our parents? That just kinda snuck up on me!
Well, on a serious note, I do praise him I don't have to live my life that way. I praise Him for my husband and children. I praise Him for my salvation.
Now He just needs to get that song OUT OF MY HEAD!!!!

lol!!! I was an 80's chick. I laughed so hard the other day when my 12 year old was going around sing "Every Breath You Take, Every (whatever) you make... I'll be watching you..." Yep, he remembers the lyrics better than I. It's just so funny seeing them get into our era of music. I just have to make sure he doesn't discover Prince!!!!! :P

Hey! Just got back into town today and wanted to say hi. I am from the 80's and this is something that I would try to do with my kids.
(They would be the ones running around saying, "No, Mom! Don't torture me. haha!)

LOL! I recognized that song at the first note played! YEs, I'm an 80's gal too. And I'm not so sure us getting that XM satellite radio was such a good idea after all... Kenton & I did try to sneak in listening to some 80's music here & there (brings back so many memories!) and unfortunately, Alek really took to it & he thinks it's his new favorite genre. *sigh* So I could really see him loving the PS game you got your son!!! I'd better pass on that.... LOL!
Love, Alyssa

Oh my goodness, that is so hilarious, I can't even explain it. A girlfriend of mine recently confessed a round with a rock star game thing and said something about being there in her long skirt playing a Pat Benetar song. You're not alone! While I never listened to whoever was in your clip, (or Pat Benetar for that matter), I do have children who know songs by Depeche Mode and Xymox.
Wonder where they got THAT from?

If I were my best friend from high school, I'd be screaming out loud right now. "Wanted" by Bon Jovi is her absolutest, favoritest song in the WORLD! (She's 36, single, and still LOVES Richie Sambora... even though he's been sited w/ DUI.) She *was* my best friend. (She still is a friend, but we have so little in common anymore. It helps that she lives in west-TX and I live in southeast TN.)
For the record, my dh is my best friend now!!! :)

Forgot to say... I didn't even have to hit play to know what video this is --- that's how often my best friend (in high school) and I watched it. (i.e. I recognized this video by just the one "still.")

Ahh, those were the days! As a middle schooler with impossibly curly hair, Jersey in the late 80's was the best possible place for me to be. Now, to get that song out of my head . . . hmmmm.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm really enjoying yours, and I'll definitely come back. I hope your date night goes WONDERFULLY!
