Scrub-a-dub-dub thanks for the grub yeah God! Amen
I have always found this prayer to be extremely shallow and annoying.
It seemed that dinner time prayer for families that used this little
ditty of a prayer were saying it as only a token prayer. Didn't mean a
whole lot to them and was just a ritual that qualified as prayer.
Now, don't get me wrong, I know that some of us could pray that prayer
and really mean it. Our family enjoys singing the Johnny Appleseed song
before meals sometimes...so I'm not totally against having a little fun
in praying to the Lord. It just concerns me when it it is taken too
lightly.
I didn't intend to talk about meal time prayers in
this blog...but the title was so catchy and what I am about to tell you
has revolutionized my thoughts on this prayer.
A few weeks
ago, kindredspiritMom shared how she was inspired by someone else to
use the time her weblog took to load to pray for unity with her
husband. I was struck by this as an "aha!" moment. It doesn't take long
at all for my weblog to load, so I have found a wonderful solution for
when I could pray longer for my husband.
The last 2 weeks I
have been using my morning shower time as a time for prayer
specifically for my husband and our relationship. It is growing into a
full blown time of prayer with the Lord about all the things that go on
in this house during the day. I always take a shower in the morning.
But I don't always make it up in time for my morning quiet time. The
kids generally beat me to getting out of bed. So this new solution is marvelous!
It has been nothing short of a miracle taking place in my life and my
marriage. My DH and I have been doing really well lately, but now...let
me tell you! It's like happy marriage SUPER CHARGED!
Praying for Unity in our marriage has been the best thing I have ever
prayed for. I can't tell you how amazing this is! The Lord has surely
done an amazing thing in our lives! I am so thankful for that
inspiration and hope others can be inspired as well.
The
Lord is waiting to bless you today. Seize your shower time into your
prayer time and voila! Your 15 minutes turns into a blessing beyond
belief!!! The Lord's waiting to give you a hug in the tub!
I'm generally one of those pray without ceasing people, so I'm not sure why this never occurred to me, but it hasn't. I'm the same as you about getting out of bed in the morning, my kids usually beat me up too and I'm always reacting. My morning shower is my personal cup of coffee. I'll have to try this!
Thanks for your comments on my blog. I appreciated them! I'll e-mail you the talk, but I have to go to my sister's wedding first. :) It'll be a week or so.
Good for you! It's funny, but for years I've done a lot of praying in the bathroom, wether in the bath, brushing my teeth, fixing my hair, or whatever... I was feeling odd about it until I realized how much sense it made for me- I was alone- and that's some of the only alone time I have! Life is busy with a house full of kids, and I wouldn't have it any other way, those quiet moments are hard to get, get them any way you can!
And Happy Anniversary!

I am random blogging and am really happy I came across yours. :o)
My husband and I have had a real hard run in the past three years but as I allow God to change me and not focus on my husbands *stuff* but on my own instead and on *God* He is changing me so much.
Its funny because for the longest time I just expected God to change our marriage because I was doing everything right....time to start actually talking to my Father about it. Since then things have been changing. :o)
Thanks for the encouragment!

The Lord wants to give you a hug in the tub...I like that! ;o) I had heard someone else suggest using the time it takes to make your bed to pray for your dh. Whatever the task, the point is to make it something you do daily. Great idea!
I found you through another blog and am glad I stopped by!
