We
have been studying the Middle Ages with a small group of homeschoolers
from our church this semester. We ended the time together with a
festival to celebrate. Here are some pictures from that and our castle
project!
DD7 as a merchant
DS5 as knight (& DD3 as a princess)
I will have more photos of DD3 when my film gets developed!
prepared to joust
DD7 wanted to wear her merchant outfit for 20 minutes and then wanted
to be a "princess..." So here she is as a jousting princess!?
The kids rode scooters to joust. It was really quite entertaining. DD7
sold all our little cork people we made as "Medieval Toys" and she sold
all her belts! It was a most successful day with a large profit of
Starburst! For more explanation...see my post about our
preparations. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
I love your pictures and I can't wait to get started on our medieval studies when we begin our next history cycle in ... June! My ds5 's birthday is in Sepetember and we are going to be using a medieval theme, with ponies, costumes, swords and all. I especially like the jousting on scooters bit! (Medieval meets 21st century! LOL) Thanks for the great ideas!
I love all the pictures you share. If I could find my camera I could post some too!
Did you see the comment I left you with the dress links? I had forgotten that you mentioned you were from MN too. When I went to your profile today I saw that you also have Charlotte Mason listed as your schooling category. I would love to learn more about it. I just asked a friend from church if she had any books on this homeschooling method and she might bring some to church for me tonight. Do you know of any good online articles or websites that might help me out?
Where In MN are you? We are in Winthrop. There is another Wintrhop hs mommy who blogs here too. LittleEblingsAcademy She is my best friend. I've come across a few other MN homeschoolers too. Wouldn't it be fun to set up a day to meet?
We had a Medieval feast about 9 years ago and we had a blast. My now ten year old was nine months old and I dressed him up as a little Robinhood. Now he is studying the Middle Ages Independently. He is drawing castles, and knights and crusaders. He is reading all kinds of books and listening to the Story of the World Tapes that cover this period. I should probably get some people together for a Medieval Feast as a culmination of his study. Thanks for sharing your photos.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I love your blog! I love the skirt that you made, and the medival pics are great. What fun. How is your bathroom coming?
:)
