Sorry.... *grin*

Okay. I'm determined to post here regularly! I feel bad for not posting since...... March 3rd.  LOL

I'm not quite sure how I'm gonna use this blog. Or, really, how I want to use it. I could post stories... but I like keeping the things I write more private, you know? I'm not sure why; it's not like I write anything bad... I just don't want to post a story right now.

Hey! I know! I'm doing Learn to Write the Novel Way for school! I could post lessons from that on here.

I'll see if I can get people to read this much neglected blog again, then I'll post.  :-)

Love,

Becca

Saturday, 1-21-07

If you would like an actual entry, go to my other blog. If you just want a short little thing, then stay here.  LOL

Just like last Saturday, I will be posting quiz results.

Yesterday we went to the movies and saw Flushed Away. I liked it a lot! We also went to Target; I bought a locket, very cool socks, (I love weird socks!!), and a wide black headband.

No huge news since last Saturday. Mama found out that she's a week farther along than she thought. The baby is now an inch long.  :-)

You Are 100% Pure

You're so innocent, it's almost like you're not human.

Well, yeah. Duh, if the questions mainly focus on drinking and such, then I'll get 100%.

You Are a Chocolate Chip Cookie
Traditional and conservative, most people find you comforting.
You're friendly and easy to get to know. This makes you very popular - without even trying!

Your Dominant Thinking Style: Exploring
You thrive on the unknown and unpredictable. Novelty is your middle name.
You are a challenger. You tend to challenge common assumptions and beliefs.

An expert inventor and problem solver, you approach everything from new angles.

You Are a Dreaming Soul
Your vivid emotions and imagination takes you away from this world
So much so that you tend to live in your head most of the time
You have great dreams and ambitions that could be the envy of all...
But for you, following through with your dreams is a bit difficult

You are charming, endearing, and people tend to love you.
Forgiving and tolerant, you see the world through rose colored glasses.
Underneath it all, you have a ton of passion that you hide from others.
Always hopeful, you tend to expect positive outcomes in your life.

You Should Rule Saturn
Saturn is a mysterious planet that can rarely be seen with the naked eye.

You are perfect to rule Saturn because like its rings, you don't always follow the rules of nature.
And like Saturn, to really be able to understand you, someone delve beyond your appearance.

You are not an easy person to befriend. However, once you enter a friendship, you'll be a friend for life.
You think slowly but deeply. You only gain great understanding after a situation has past.

You Belong in Spring
Optimistic, lively, and almost always happy with the world...
You can truly appreciate the blooming nature of spring.
Whether you're planting flowers or dyeing Easter eggs, spring is definitely your season!

Your Mood Ring is Blue
Relaxed
At ease
Calm
Lovable

Okay, that's it. I'll try to update more than once a week.

XOXOXO,

Becca

The Latest Studies........ugh

I read this thing a magazine that said "The latest studies show that a teen's brain is not devoloped enough to understand the consequences of his actions until he's well into his 20s." That's the complete quote. I'm sorry, but that, to me, just seems like some excuse a parent would use for explaining their kid's bad behavior. Every teen has a conscience, and unless they've completely deadened it, they know something is wrong before they do it! Drinking, drugs, sleeping around, dressing in a revealing way, "fun" pranks, I don't care what it is. A teen must get even the slightest "This is wrong!!" message.

So many adults excuse their teen's behavior because "He/she's just a teenager. Let them have their fun." Yet in reality, they're doing their kid no favor. They're harming their child by letting them go to the parties, encouraging dating at a young age, and buying the clothes, posters and CDs. But I think they harm them the most by not being involved in their child's life, by not asking how their day went, how their friends are doing, etc. Especially if they don't homeschool, and aren't around their kids alot.

I'm not saying tha being homeschooled means a guy or girl is an innocent. I was, (let me stress was), friends with a girl who was homeschooled. She was just a 11-12 year old kid. But she started to change, her clothes became very revealing, she listened to trashy music, she had a subsripction to Teen People, for crying out loud. She was twelve! She stopped talking to me. (I guess because we no longer had much in common; I mean I don't like Ashlee Simpson, can't stand her sister, and I think Mean Girls was a stupid and trashy movie.) Her sudden lack of communication was a blessing; it got me out of a bad situation. I don't like to admit it, but I wasn't really that satisfied with being me anymore. I wanted to be a size two, wear high heels, a full face of makeup, and have my headphones on my ears most of the time. I think my self confidence started to twindle. Bad company!!!

But, like I said, her family stopped talking to mine,  (There's more reasons, but I won't mention them.), and they kinda had a blow up with everyone in the HS group. My self confidence is way higher now and I'm not afraid to be me. I realize that having my headphones all the time will make me deaf by age 30, and although I still wouldn't mind being a size two for a little while, I've become a stronger person, and am less afraid to speak up.

I got off track, I know. Sorry. *grin* I guess what I'm saying is that it's my feeling that parents should be very involved in their kids' lives, otherwise, there's a lot of room for that kid to mess up and have no guidance.

And that thing about teens' brains? Yeah, I know we're still growing, but I fully understand that if I drink, do drugs, sleep with someone, dress in a bad way, anything like that, there will be consequences!!!!

XOXOXO,

Becca

"You Say It Best When You Say Nothing At All"

Today we went to the park, (Mama and I walked the track thing 3 times), piano lessons, the feed lot and then to our friends' house. I had a good day.  :-)

Tomorrow we're going to town; grocery shopping and somewhere else. After that, I'll probably become a bit anti-social, and want to stay home.  LOL  I get like that sometimes; I don't wanna go anywhere.

I'm ordering Masquerade and From Italy With Love from a Christian book website. I considered getting Chaotic Resolve, Plumb's newest CD, but I'm not going to. I don't think.  LOL

You all need to check out this site: www.fanfiction.com  They have stories based on just about every movie out there, and lots of book-based stories too. There are ratings on each story, so look for those. The ratings are nice for me, because I know what to stay away from!

I'm cold. My hair's still wet from my shower, and the office is pretty much the coldest room in the house. I guess it's better than having to have the air conditioner blasting because it's 100* outside!!

Okay, I need to go.

Hugs,

Becca

The Storm and An Update

The sky is quickly turning dark, the wind is picking up speed and force. The leaves and grass turn to a slick green as a fierce rain descends upon the earth. Lightining flashes in the now nearly black sky. The thunder growls, low and harsh. It is answered by a sharp shriek sound, then the light comes again.

In such a storm, one is powerless. You can't do anything. You can only pray that the storm will pass without harming your family, home and land.

All the money in the world can't stop a furious display like this. All the power ever posessed by man cannot command the winds, lightning, thunder or rain. The strongest person can't keep the trees from being ripped from the ground.

But then, it's all over. The rain stops, letting the water quickly flow down the hills, gulleys and ditches without adding to the amount. The lightining leaves, giving way to the sun. The thunder ceases it's powerful roars and whip like shrieks. The wind stills, letting nothing but a calm breeze flow over your
skin as you go outside to see the glory of a new day.

In the storms of life, we must remember that there is an end to the trouble, worry and pain. Our Father
is watching over us, and He has said He will give us no more than we can bear. So trust in Him; the stom will pass and give way to the glory of happiness and blessed peace.
I was bored, so I thought I would type that up real quick.   :-)

I've already posted this on my other blog, but...
My Mama is pregnant!! Yay!! She's pretty sure she's due sometime in September.
We've been wanting baby number five for a while now.
Okay, I'm gonna re-do my blog.
  Hugs,
  Becca

Merry Christmas Eve!!!

I know this is the same post I put on my GiftedGirl blog......but I was gonna say the same things here. So I just copied it.  LOL
Merry Christmas Eve!!

Also, go wish John happy birthday!!!

I made cinnamon rolls; we'll bake them tomorrow morning. We're doing a ham dinner tonight, so there's not a bunch of cooking to do tomorrow.

We'll open presents from Grammy and Pappy, Uncle Todd and Aunt Moni and Uncle Wayne and Auntie Nina tonight. Everythng else tomorrow morning. I think I'm most excited about the girls getting their wooden kitchen. There's a wooden mixer, baking sheet, utensils, etc. that goes with it. It's so cute!!!!

There's a 90% chance of us getting snow flurries at midnight tonight. Not that I'll be up to see them.....LOL

Aunt Penny, my cousin Sushi,(No, that's not her real name), and Granny are coming up after Christmas. In a sense, we have two Christmases; one with Grammy and Pappy and one with Granny, Aunt Penny and Sushi.

Okay, I need to go.  :-)

A Note and The First Post of WBB: Abortion

I've made a kinda tough decision......I'm dropping the story. It's not fair to have it, but never update it, and I don't devote enough time to it. Then I post about other things and feel sort of guilty because I didn't posted Chapter Seven or whatever. So yeah. I'll let it rest, then when I get a sudden burst of creativity, I'll finish it in a couple days, and post the whole thing. Or e-mail it if you want it or something. I'll still post short stories, Fan Fic, Book Reviews, etc. Just nothing about Ian, Jeremy and Raina.

So that's my big news.  LOL  Now onto my actual post....

This blog is gonna be where I post more indepth stuff. On GiftedGirl, I sometimes post that. But here I'll post it more.  Plus, I had a brilliant idea. I'll write a book called What's Bugging Becca. Like the title? Catchy, eh?  LOL So here I'll get my practice.

First post for WBB, (What's Bugging Becca), will focus on a topic that's been bothering me lately:

The non-respect people have for human life. Abortion is the greatest example of this. It is the murder of an innocent person, yet it is practiced every day all around the world. What happens to, say, some guy who kills a child? If all goes correctly, he is put in jail. What happens to the doctor who kills an unborn babe? Nothing. Both he and the mother of that child go free and clear, despite the fact that they have just commited murder.

I don't care if the mother did not want to get pregnant. Why should she "get rid of" her innocent child, who is nothing but the result of another's cruelty? If anything, she should carry the baby full term, and feel sympathy and love for a person who was just as helpless as herself.

I don't agree with the choices of the teen mothers, the ones who knew full well what they were doing. But I do commend them, because even though the world's pressure to abort the baby must've been strong, she didn't.

What really gets me is the difference in people's attitudes: Some cannot have children, but desperately want them. Others can have children, but do everything to not have babies.

America is the land of the free. Everyone has a free choice. Furthermore, God gave us each a free will. So I understand that I cannot stop all abortions, I cannot convince some to not support such practices. Despite a baby's inability to choose for themself, I can point out that abortion, although the mother may want it, is a direct infringement on the child's rights. Some of the politians and doctors are so fired up about the woman's rights, and how abortion should be available to her. Yet they cut off another persons rights, they effectively and permanently silence a voice that hasn't even had a chance to speak yet. Where's the freedom in that?? To be killed before you have chance to see the world, before you can fully experience that freedom that America is known for, is an absolute horror.

Regardless of what others say, I will always defend the rights of the ones who cannot speak up for themselves.

Anne Frank

Posted in Book Reviews

I enjoyed reading Anne Frank's diary, but several things jumped out at me that I found rather annoying and showed me just how unlike her I am.

Her diary reveals that she had a major obsession with guys, yet had little regard for their feelings. She writes several entries that mention Harry Goldberg, a 16 year old boy who liked her. But right after that, she mentions Peter Wessel, (Peter Number One), and says that she was pleased, because he'd talked to her for the first time in ages. Yet just before, she'd been saying how wonderful Harry was! Then she goes and "falls in love" with Peter van Pels, (Peter Number Two) Before, she described him as "frightfully touchy and lazy", a "rather soft, shy, gawky youth", despite his being 3 years older than her. His attempts to be friendly only irritated her, and to me, it almost seems hypocritical of her to suddenly like him. I understand that she wanted to have a closeness with someone, and her strained, distant relationship with her mother, (More on that in the next paragraph), meant she couldn't confide in her. I also understand that Anne having the personality that she did -- she could be a bold flirt who greatly enjoyed the attention of boys -- meant that she must miss the company of young guys, and so turned to the only one there.

Her relationship with her mother was, like I said, strained and distant. They never really got while she's in hiding. But she does not like him till they've been hiding for over a year.  along, and after moving into the Secret Annex, their fights became worse. She identified better with her father. Who was a good man, yes. A good father, I guess. But his relationship with his wife does not seem to have been the perfectly-ever-after type, the sweep-her-off-her-feet kind of romance. More of a satisfy society, have a friendly and polite marriage, but never have that love that every girl wants someday. I feel sorry for Otto and Edith Frank.

All in all, I feel that although Anne's diary is touching, tragic and incredibly real, I have trouble identifying myself with her. She seems to have been very opinionated and quite immature in some of her thoughts and feelings.

I love learning and reading about WW I and II. Her diary is one of the greatest insights to that time. But I also think that her diary should be read with the understanding that she isn't exactly someone to be idolized, if you will.

Hopefully, some of you who read my GiftedGirl blog will read this.  :-)  I'm gonna see if Angel, (Angelfire94), can log into my account on her computer. If she can, then she can post an update for me on the GiftedGirl blog.

I can't log into my account; it says my password or username is invalid. Hopefully they'll get it all fixed!!!

Anyways, I'll post more of the story in a bit.

~Chapter Six~

Chapter Six

With the hustle, bustle and confusion at the airport, Ian didn't get to leave as soon as he'd like. Instead, he got stuck in the cafeteria-style eating area, along with Jeremy, and the girl from the plane. He now knew her name was Raina, and they were carrying on an in depth conversation. Turned out, Raina was going to her aunt's house, in the suburbs of Fort Peters. Having been gone so long, Ian didn't know who Cora Longford was, but Raina knew Nicole. Ian's breath nearly stopped. His mother. Immediately, the anger he felt toward Charlotte St. Peters was overwhelming and all consuming. He had to turn his head, so Raina and Jeremy wouldn't see the flames of rage in his bright green eyes. He wanted to get out the letter he'd found in Charlotte's nightstand, the letter that had made everything clear to him. The kidnapping, the fake names, the reason why Charlotte had drug him from place to place under the pretense that they "needed to see new sights". It made him realize just how crafty and sly Charlotte was. Leaving without her knowing he was headed to Dawson had been hard.

Jeremy pulled at the straw in his root beer, and picked at the salt on his pretzel. Should've gotten that giant chocolate chip cookie, he thought. His sneakered foot hit his duffel bag sittng underneath the table, and caused Raina's L.L. Bean bag to move.

"Oops. Sorry."

Raina smiled at him, and said, "That's okay. So...where're you headed?"

"I'm not sure. I left home because I was tired of being told how to live my life, and how I need to choose a college, and how I need to stop "playing around". I needed some freedom, some time to think. But now.....now I'm too free. I have no clue where to go or what to do. I have money but...."

"I understand. I want to do something important, but I don't know what."

Silence came over the table, and the three teens, as they each tried to contemplate their next move. Ian was just bored; when would that taxi get here? Raina was dreading her stay with her aunt. And Jeremy was becoming homesick.

At long last, the taxi arrived; Jeremy saw it from the window he was sitting next to. Ian gave him an awkward hug, and waved to Raina. Then he walked out the door, to go see his parents for the first time in what seemed like forever.

Which left Raina and Jeremy sitting in the airport.

"I really should go", Raina started, "but I don't really want to."

"Tell you what. You show me to the nicest hotel in Fort Peters."

"Deal."

They grabbed their bags, and headed for the door.

Note: So how is it so far?  LOL

~Chapter Five~ FINALLY!!!!

Posted in Fiction

Chapter Five

"We will be landing Fort Peters, Alabama, in the next 15 minutes."

The pilot's voice coming through the intercom pulled Ian from his sleep. "Finally", he thought, "we'll be there." With that thought, the worry he hadn't anticipated flooded his mind, filled his heart. Trying to keep the fear at bay, he mentally went over his plan. "I'll get my bags, then get a cab. Then I'll head to Dawson." Not much of a plan, but it was something. His breath was coming fast, he'd be home soon. Home. A smile stretched across his face.

Raina was expieriencing none of Ian's joy. Instead, all she felt was dread. Her Aunt Cora was known as the socialite of Fort Peters. And, of course, Cora expected Raina to act with the same "grace and good upbringing". Translated by Raina, that was snobbiness and spoiled, self-centeredness. She was not glad about this visit, to say the least.

Jeremy. He had no clue why he had boarded this plane, and didn't know what he'd do in Fort Peters. He knew Ian was going there for a reason, and he'd learned from talking to the girl behind him that she was going to see her aunt. Yesterday, in Jeremy's stressed, angered mind, getting on a plane and leaving without notice had been a brilliant plan. Now.....well, it wasn't such a hot idea.

~Chapter Four~

~Chapter Four~

The Plane

Raina saw the two guys talking in front of her. It was kind of funny seeing them try to look uninterested in the conversation and each other; yet they both kept glancing at the other. Plus, the fact that one of them was a loner in all black and the other was a stylishly dressed "golden boy" was quite humorous. She was glad something funny was happening on this trip. when she got to her aunt's, she would have to be "proper". Ugh. Time to get some sleep.

Jeremy woke up to the sun blaring in his eyes. Ian had the shade up, and was quickly scribbling something down on a piece of paper.

"Man, why don you have the shade all the way open?"
   "I needed light."
"Well, you certainly have it now."

Ian gave him a hard stare, his eyes a darker shade of green than before.

   "Okay, whatever."
   "Thank you."

Raina witnessed all this with a smirk on her face. Even when they were irritated with each other, they got along well.

Dawson, Alabama

Nicole tried to read the letter, but the shouting kids made the task nearly impossible. She didn't regret opening the orphanage; it had taken her mind off the baby she'd lost. But sometimes all she wanted was some peace and quiet! Oh well, she'd just read it tonight, after Marcus got back from his trip. He had gone to get a baby boy, who, coincidentally, was named Ian. Having this baby was going to be so hard....

~Chapter Three~

Posted in Fiction

Note: Be sure to re-read the Prologue, Ch. One and Ch. Two.

Chapter Three

Once upon a time, in the Land of Happiness, tbere lived a little boy with bright green eyes. He had a loving, wonderful mother, and a wonderful father. They were, as the name of the land implied, happy.
One day the boy met a woman on the path in front of the house. She asked him to help her get to the springs in the forest. He knew where they were, so, being a helpful boy, decided to show her the way. He neglected to tell his mother where he was going. Something about the strange woman had him captivated.
So they set off into the forest. Everything was going well; the lady seemed so nice.
But, once they were hidden from view of the boy's home, she turned into a hideous monster. He tried to run away, but she caught him. He was forced to live in her dark, gloomy palace.....

Ian awoke with a start. That dream again! Why did it keep tormenting him? It seemed like every night his mind decided to torture and test him. At first, the dream was like something out of a storybook. But then it turned into a nightmare. He had been scolding himself for letting a "monster" scare him....but the monster seemed familiar. In the dream, he felt like the lady was a stranger, yet he knew her very well.

Ian glanced next to him; they guy was asleep. They had somehow managed to get a conversation going. It was hard, since Ian didn't give much information about himself, and the other guy, (who had introduced himself as Jeremy.), wasn't sure what to say. Other than being the same age, Jeremy was the total opposite of Ian. Jeremy had sun streaked blond hair, which clashed with Ian's too-black, too long, somewhat stringy 'do. Jeremy had a tan; Ian didn't. Jeremy was somewhat shorter than most 17 year old guys, whereas Ian was tall. Jeremy had stylish clothes- an American Eagle T-shirt, Lucky jeans, and Nike sneakers. Ian's clothing was just black, with no major brand names. Jeremy looked like he was the friendly, popular kid in school. Ian wasn't any of those things. Jeremy was nice, but Ian felt a little.....intimidated.

Charlotte's breath was coming fast, and her heart was beating loud enough for the whole world to hear. This was it. Her time was up. Her hidden sins would finally be opened for all the world to see. She would be hated and scorned. Nicole had been right.

Jeremy tried to sleep.....but it wasn't working out. He always had trouble falling alsleep while in a plane. He turned his head slowly, and jumped when he saw bright green eyes staring back at him.

"What?" Finally, the guy in black had said something!
   "Oh, nothing, I, I just..."
   "Yeah."

Jeremy mentally scolded himself for sounded like such an idiot. What could he say to keep the "conversation" going?

"So, uh, the food was pretty bad, huh?" Lame, Jeremy, so lame.
"It was okay. I've had worse."
   "Soo, where are you headed?"
   "Fort Peters."
"Never heard of it." Good, Jeremy thought, the conversation is going
"Naw, I didn't think you'd know what I was talking about."

There's more suspense in this Chapter....LOL

~Chapter One~

~Chapter One~

Seventeen Years Later

Jeremy sat down in aisle seat in the second aisle of First Class, ready for a nice, relaxing trip. He had hoped that the person sitting by the window would be talkative....but it didn't look like the guy was very friendly. Dressed from head-to-toe in black, with a lip ring at the corner of his lower lip, a couple spiky necklaces and a don't-mess-with-me expression, this guy definitely did not look friendly. So Jeremy turned his attention to the girl sitting across from him. She looked nice, but drowsy, and he was sure she'd be asleep soon.

Ian looked next to him; the guy had his headphones on. Good, he thought to himself. Ian was not what you'd call an extremely social person. He was a loner, a reject, and he didn't want to start being outgoing now. He thought of his mother's last words to him before he left, "Don't get close to anyone, and no one will ever be hurt." They were strange words coming from your average mother. But coming from his mother, this was everyday advice. She wanted to keep him away from the world; away from pain and fear. But in the deep core of his being, he knew he had endured far more pain and fear than he needed to.

Soooo.....how was that?
