~Chapter Three~
Note: Be sure to re-read the Prologue, Ch. One and Ch. Two.
Chapter Three
Once upon a time, in the Land of Happiness, tbere lived a little boy with bright green eyes. He had a loving, wonderful mother, and a wonderful father. They were, as the name of the land implied, happy.
One day the boy met a woman on the path in front of the house. She asked him to help her get to the springs in the forest. He knew where they were, so, being a helpful boy, decided to show her the way. He neglected to tell his mother where he was going. Something about the strange woman had him captivated.
So they set off into the forest. Everything was going well; the lady seemed so nice.
But, once they were hidden from view of the boy's home, she turned into a hideous monster. He tried to run away, but she caught him. He was forced to live in her dark, gloomy palace.....
Ian awoke with a start. That dream again! Why did it keep tormenting him? It seemed like every night his mind decided to torture and test him. At first, the dream was like something out of a storybook. But then it turned into a nightmare. He had been scolding himself for letting a "monster" scare him....but the monster seemed familiar. In the dream, he felt like the lady was a stranger, yet he knew her very well.
Ian glanced next to him; they guy was asleep. They had somehow managed to get a conversation going. It was hard, since Ian didn't give much information about himself, and the other guy, (who had introduced himself as Jeremy.), wasn't sure what to say. Other than being the same age, Jeremy was the total opposite of Ian. Jeremy had sun streaked blond hair, which clashed with Ian's too-black, too long, somewhat stringy 'do. Jeremy had a tan; Ian didn't. Jeremy was somewhat shorter than most 17 year old guys, whereas Ian was tall. Jeremy had stylish clothes- an American Eagle T-shirt, Lucky jeans, and Nike sneakers. Ian's clothing was just black, with no major brand names. Jeremy looked like he was the friendly, popular kid in school. Ian wasn't any of those things. Jeremy was nice, but Ian felt a little.....intimidated.
