blogging - I have a few things to learn

Posted in Random until I think of a clever name

Blogging is already a wonderful outlet for me. I enjoy everything about it so far. I enjoy taking a few minutes to write about my life. I enjoy reading others' blogs. I enjoy keeping it positive.

There are a few things I need to learn, though. I need to learn this term - blogroll.

And I need to learn how to add all these codes. Those I understand, but not where to put them in the template.

I need to learn how to make beautiful backgrounds. I am convinced I can do this. I enjoy scrapbooking and I imagine it to be a digital version of that.

Where do I start? I google "how to create a blog" and there is only very basic info or info for an already-expert. But my quest will continue. I want this blog to reflect who I am. It should reflect my roles as Wife, Mother, Homemaker, Homeschooler, and most importantly, my role as Child of God.

If you can offer some advice as where to learn more - please feel free to comment. I love the library so when we visit this week, I'll be checking out some books on blogging. Any recommendations?

Patty

Hi neighbor! I live in just outside of Winston. One thing that was helpful to me is looking at other people's blog code. If you use Internet Explorer, click on View, then Source. For Firefox it View, Page Source. That will give you the html for any webpage you are viewing.

OK, here's another help for you. If you look at your template, scroll down until you see the words "Begin Sidebar". Below that you can see the sections for the things that are in your sidebar. When you get the blogroll code you can paste it in the sidebar section of your template. Just be sure that you preview changes and then you can cancel your change if it didn't work right.

My friend Nancy over at homeschoolblooger.com/nancysnook/ could probally lead you to some great places to help with blogging. I am a newbie to it all, and she helped be and set up my pic for my blog and all of it. I know her from my co-op, just tell her Sherry sent ya, she's a very nice lady. Talk soon.

Hi, Patty! Thanks for stopping by my blog :-)

Amy over at Split Decisionz has some great tutorials (I can't remember the url but just put it in a search engine and she'll come up). They are for blogger but the basics can usually be changed up across the board without too much hassle.

Good luck with blogging!
God bless,
Sallie
