SO much to say!

Posted in Random until I think of a clever name

I have SO much to say and EVEN MORE to share.

However...

I find myself terribly irritated by people right now so I must wait for fear I hurt someone. I don't want to hurt anyone.

BUT when I am ready to post you will read about a Saturday Sabotaged, Mud Baths, SAT Toes, and well, BIG beds!

THANK YOU for reading my blog!

Patty

Whew!

Posted in Random until I think of a clever name

It's been a while. We've traveled off and on. We've been focused on lessons. I've had some personal growth that took me some time to digest.

We've back to the coast a few times. I love the coast. Mike and I were married barefoot on the jetty wall at the south end of Wrightsville Beach. In my view, heaven will be a beach! The biggest trip, though, was just for me and Mike. YES! Mike and I went away ALONE for the first time since Reade was born 9 years ago. It was a logistical nightmare to plan. It took four sets of sitting to make it away for two nights. But it was worth it.

What did I take away from that weekend? Quiet. It was very quiet. No one was constantly talking or crying or yelling. It was quiet. I truly enjoyed that. We quitely dined on sushi Friday night and then a lot of time on the beach Saturday followed by a very early quiet dinner in Southport on the dock. Sunday brought even more quiet as we walked on the beach and enjoyed a nap before heading back west.

Travelling was part of the fun. We took the motorcycle! Now mind I've only been on the bike a few times. To ride for four hours required every bit of extra cushioning I've got. Whew!

We've been working hard to maintain our daily rhythm with lessons and indoor and outdoor work. Autumn is a time of preparation here and it's much more fun to play and work outside than to work inside. So, we've struggled some with our lesson work and have tried to keep our rhythm, but we're making it happen. It's a lot of work. Whew!

And I've realized I can only do so much. I don't like admitting it a single bit. I prefer to be able to attempt everything I want to do. I can only do so much. I've narrowed down my commitments to Cub Scouts, 4-H, and then the SAT Prep program I own. That's enough. I'd much rather be spending time with my family and relaxing than to race around doing everything else for everyone else.

I really don't mean to be selfish but I've learned that if I do for others they expect more. And more. And more. I enjoy making someone else's life easier. I enjoy bringing relief to an over-loaded friend. But there were some circles that were just taking and taking and I was getting zapped and more zapped. Whew!

So, here's to hopes that I can jump back on board. I do enjoy writing and I feel like I am finding my voice. But now that voice is tired and the hands want to knit. Whew!

Amy's Read One Book Challenge

Posted in Random until I think of a clever name

I learned about this challenge from Suzanne ( http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Suzanne/ ).

Amy's challenge is to read JUST ONE BOOK in its entirety by the end of 2008. It cannot, however, be a book read to or for your children. It must be solely for yourself. Read all the details at Amy's Challenge page here: http://www.myfriendamysblog.com/2008/05/amys-read-one-book-challenge.html

I'm in. Are you?
