Apr. 25, 2008 - WOW..Update needed....
Hello there other blogger friends. I have neglected to update in some time. Life has really gotten busy now that SPRING is officially here. We have been busy doing outside things like cleaning out the barn, and the yard, and getting the garden beds ready for when we can safely plant the garden goodies! We have to wait about 3 more weeks before we can safely plant our garden. Sigh!
WELL, we have been discussing the homeschool situation. The boys want to finish out the school year at the public school. AND we will probably let our 17 yr old finish out next year in the public school too! He will be a Senior. However, with our 13 yr old. He wants to homeschool. And that is probably the best for him. We have been looking at the Christian Light Material. This is what I feel I like the best. I am even going to the Parent/Teacher training this summer, that they are holding in Virginia.
Our daughter in law is really ready to have our grandson. She is due in 6 weeks, but she feels like she won't make it that long. In fact, she has dropped a little this week. Not much really, but enough to notice. Please pray that she and the little guy make it to a say date that little Max can be born safely and Healthy!
My class is getting excited about the end of the school year. I would like to take them on a field trip of some sorts. Maybe walking to the bakery or even the Dairy queen would be fun. (Must wait for weather to cooperate though!)...We wouldn't be able to take a bus, so whatever we do, we have to walk. Where I teach, we are very limited on options! We have been going outside and "hiking" every afternoon this week for "no child left inside week".
Well, my break is over, and I must finish teaching...blessings everyone, and have a great spring weekend!

Mar. 4, 2008 - WHew...update time....
Whew....I really need to update...isn't it funny how life sometimes just gets away from you! Well, dh and I have decided to let our boys finish out the year at the public school...as there isn't much time left. That way they have closure and stuff. However, I will be really keeping an eye out on the schools...I email the teachers daily, and go to visit once a week...
Yesterday we had an ice day. My niece came over for the day...she is 6 1/2. She is SO spoiled. All she wanted to do was watch TV and play video games. At our house TV is off all the time...rarely on! And video games are earned! She didn't know how to entertain herself! I know that she has a tv in her bedroom. And that is all she does is watch movies and tv. Now that she goes to school, my brother wants her to do other things, but how do you teach a 6 year old how to play when they really never have?
She has spent the summers with us for the past 2 summers...(just during the days while her parents work)...the first year it was great...last year it was challenging some what...and this summer, my boys and I are sure to be exhausted daily!!! I am just going to have to be extra tough! She was really mouthy and determined to get her way yesterday! UGH...
Well, I really don't have time for much more updates...and I will be in Florida for the next week, as my youngest brother is getting married!
Blessings, Me

Feb. 22, 2008 - WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE????
Good Morning...Okay...do I need any more "proof" that we need to pull our youngest out of the public schools and homeschool? Yesterday he came home quite upset...(mind you he is in 7th grade...and most 7th graders are 12 & 13)...he informed us that 6 students in his classroom and several others in another classroom were susended for several weeks because they got caught drinking BEER at school! One or several of the students brought the beer to school in soda bottles. One of these young boys was just at our house last weekend. A very polite boy, (maybe a little rough around the edges...) he even volunteered to pray at supper that night! I guess what bothers me most is that they are just 12 and 13 year old children. My son had the one young boy and another over last weekend and they were playing with matchbox cars and GI Joes. ANd now this weekend one of them is caught drinking at school..... WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!??????? I am still in "shock" over the whole thing. If our 17 yr. old had been the one to tell us people were caught drinking....we would have been upset but not quite as shocked! I fully believe it was God smacking me in the forehead saying "Wake up and pull him out now!" Okay, I guess I have vented long enough. The sun is shining again today. So gorgeous! AND it is warm enough for outside recess! God is Good! Have a great day! Blessings! |

Feb. 21, 2008 - New to the world of Homeschooling...
Hello,
I am new to the world of homeschooling. My dh and I are still trying to figure out all the "quirks" to this, but we will be pulling our youngest son out of school, and I will be homeschooling him.
We have two grown children...son almost 23 who is married and proud pappa to our granddaughter...she will be 1 year old next month. And he and our lovely daughter in law will have a son come June. We have a 21 year old daughter who is a Senior in college, and will graduate in June. We have an almost 17 year old son who is a Junior in High School, and who is the number one runner for his High School...we are hoping he gets a running scholarship to College...and then we have a 13 year old son who is in the 7th grade. I teach in a local elementary school and have 3, 4, 5th graders...I am a special education teacher.
We have decided to homeschool our youngest for sure...because of all the ungodliness in the schools, and he seems to be exposed to the most of it at this time. We are still debating about our 11th grader. We will be using the Christian Light Education curriculum. This is used in many Anabaptist schools. I am hoping to be able to bring our son to school with me, and have him volunteer in the lower grades, and some in my room. (I know this sounds opposing to the reason we are pulling him...and then putting him back into a public school....) But, I can monitor what he is learning, and what he is reading, and it also gets him into a "volunteering" mode that will help him be a better person.
Well, I guess that is about it for now..
Blessings!
