Homemaking

Posted in Homelife

So I have discovered a few things, having started an odyssey last week to become a good home-maker.

1.  Keeping the house clean is the only exercise routine you really need.  If you do it right (that is, following Mrs. Catherine and the Making It Home Ladies), then you will be quite exhausted by the end of the day.  And lose about 3lbs in a few days.
2.  Those extra touches really make the family happy.
3. Teatime serves a real purpose, and if I forget it, the children raid the cupboards, but if I go along with it, then DD is excited about 'teeth', DS wants to mess with the teapot, and the cupboards are left alone, and I have peace in which to make dinner.
4. Baking bread is fun, and I remember this every time I do it...
5. Peter Reinhart has an excellent book in the Bread Baker's Apprentice... and I can't wait to try some of the recipes!
6. I feel happy when my home is clean, and tidy.  It smells better... and TA-DAH!!!  Those things that always mess you up at the end of the day... you know the ones... the things you HAVE to do before bed?  Well.... they are already done!!! I discovered this yesterday when I thought I had two cups beside my bed.  The operative word was HAD... I had already taken them down during cleaning!!!
7.  Taking the time to do something, actually gives you extra time!
