Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

Dig Down Deep and Release the Artist Within!
Posted in Boy Things
Another flashback that's funny now, but wasn't so much in the moment...
My older son's entries have been fewer, and I want to make it clear that I'm not playing favorites here. Honestly, I can't tell you if it's because I can't remember that far back anymore, or if they seemed to be a bit less noticeable. I know he had his moments, so I've been concentrating on getting the synapses to connect that far back in my memory. As I was thinking, I remembered this oldie but goodie.
My older son was such a good baby. I know everyone says that, but it's true. He slept through the night at two weeks. He was self-scheduled to perfection. I could set my watch by that child from Day One. It was great for a new mom like me. If you're clueless about being a mom, it helps when you're given a child who walks you through everything step by step. Sure, we had our bumps in the road, but teething is probably a valid reason to be out of sorts.
So, at about 8 months we found out what kind of problem solver we had on our hands with this one. He was smooth! Just like lots of children that age, he was a bit of a Houdini when it came to clothing. It never ceased to amaze me that I could put him down for nap in a onesie, just to find the onesie on the floor next to the crib when I came back. Pretty cool, I thought.
One nap was just like any other. Walk in the room, put him down, watch him roll over and assume the "thumb-sucking position" right away, walk out, come back later. Simple.
I heard him talking to himself at the end of naptime; and, since he was calm and entertaining himself, I was in no rush to go get him. Fifteen minutes later, he was still talking to himself, but I wanted to play with him, so I walked in the room expecting to see his face grinning and his arms reaching.
I was so unprepared!
As I walked in, my grin faded...my jaw dropped...I gasped...and then I remembered to breathe.
There he was, in all his glory, standing in the crib with a big grin on his face. My eyes followed a white blur to the floor, and that's when I realized the lifeless onesie was joined by his diaper. But, this wasn't just any ordinary diaper. No! It was a fully used, once full, but now less full diaper.
*sigh*
I finally took it all in. There on the walls, crib, crib sheets, and boy were the marks of a real artiste! One might call it "Young Artist's Impressions in Brown." (You put two and two together on this one!)
I was mortified!
Eventually, after all was cleaned up, the boy was bathed, and the shock wore off, I could loving call my son "Poo-casso" and really mean it as a term of endearment.
For your information, a panicked phone call to my mom revealed to me, the rookie mom, the secret parenting technique only offered by tried and tested moms when a new mom is being tried and tested. The onesie is put on and fastened backwards. If and when that doesn't work, the onesie is put on backwards and safety pinned closed.
