Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

Attention to Detail is a Good Thing!

*Previously posted on my old blog site.*

Who'd have thunk that the younger one would be so attentive to details?

Today, we were going to the beach with friends. Simple enough. Grab the suits, pack the snacks, and toss in the towels, right? Yep! Of course, the towels didn't exactly stay neat and folded traveling from the linen closet to the bag for the beach. This presented a problem in the packing process, so my older son decided it needed to be fixed.

Here he was, trying his best to get a towel wrangled into some sort of folded condition. He's almost eight, but folding anything has just never been his strong suit. I watched. His younger brother watched.

"That folding is a bit wrinkly, huh?" I observed.

"Yeah. I don't think I'm so good at folding towels," he answered.

"I can do it! I can do it!" a voice cried out from the other side of the room.

"Okay, you do it," big brother answered.

As the younger son did it, we got a play by play.

"When I do it, I do it like this. You lay out the towel very flat. It's like this," he said.

And, it was very, very, very flat!

"Then it's like a shirt. I fold it like a shirt, but different," he said.

He made a very straight left side fold, and then a right side fold that met the other edge in the middle. Then, with the towel as flat as can be, he pulled the top edge all the way over the bottom edge, and did it again to make a very neat and tidy towel.

Actually, he folded that towel more perfectly than any of us in this house have ever folded a towel! He was proud. And he had every right to be!

He then, moments later, displayed another towel-origami method leading to the very same perfect, smooth, rectangular shape in a whole new way.

(This time he folded the very flat towel in half lengthwise, and then in half widthwise, and then in half again. In case you were curious, he said he was showing his *other* folds.)

Big brother gave him his due encouragement, and he put it in the bag.

He is *good* at folding! Who knew? Big brother should take lessons. Maybe Daddy should, too! *grin*
