Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

A History Lesson
Posted in School Things
*Previously published on my old blog site.*
As you know, we choose to home school our boys. There are many reasons why we've made that decision this year, but there are those moments that cause me to pause for thought. You see, as a home schooling mom, I get to see all the discoveries. I get to take part in the fun and witness the educational moments that are often saved for teachers in a class room.
Well, there is another side to it, too. There are the moments that I'm sure God intends to use in my life in various ways. Feel free to eavesdrop as I did, and think about how this might be useful in the life of a teacher-mom.
My older son was reading some living history today, and his younger brother was interested for a while. So, the two of them parked in our biggest comfy chair and read together. As the older boy read, he would insert little explanations or answer his brother's questions. It was all rather sweet, innocent, educational, and I almost got misty-eyed for a moment as I listened.
On and on about the Pilgrims and their journey to the New World. Interesting. Here's what I got to hear:
Bell Pepper Boy: "'Instead of Smith, they [the Pilgrims] hired a short, hot-tempered captain named Miles Standish.' (Founding the American Colonies, Diana Reische) That means they hired a man about Mom's height. He was little. And he was *madder* than Mom! Wow!"
Habanero Boy: "Wow. That's interesting."
Hmmmm. What do you think I'm supposed to learn from this one? :-P |
