Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

The Bible is Alive!

Posted in School Things
*Previously published on my old blog site.*

As a home schooling family, we have chosen to place our Bible time at the beginning of our day. I elect not to use a formal curriculum for this area because we've just never found anything that works for who we are and what we need on a daily basis. Alas, we are left to our own devices sometimes, whether good, bad, or ugly.

Only the best can visualize this one. For that, I'm so sorry! I just can't capture this one on film. If I could, I wouldn't post it anyway for privacy reasons. (We always want to be safe when it comes to online posts and communications.)

Lately, we've been working on memorizing all of Psalm 139. Yes, my older son is really close to finishing the whole passage! We are very proud of his hard work.  My younger son feels the whole passage is a bit much for him to memorize, but has decided to be the actor in this whole process. While older brother is practicing the passage, younger brother is acting it out to the best of his ability. . .and creativity!

Somehow, my little Hambone was super-inspired when we came to the point of "Where can I flee from Your Spirit?" Suddenly, he was running across the living room and down the hall in complete (dramatic) flee-mode. His arms extended, hands waving left and right frantically over his head, he tore off, half screaming out of the room.

Needless to say, older brother and I were rather taken aback. We stopped, looked at each other, and heartily belly-laughed.

My little Hambone reentered the room to continue as if nothing had happened. He did look a little pleased that we got a little joy out of his performance.

Someday, I'll consider the intent of that passage with something of a more biblical perspective. For now, I have fresh eyes and a new visual for that line in the passage. . .maybe for the rest of my life.
